this discussion has been about "artists" in context with Prince's experience

an artist who produced wrote arranged recorded and performed his own work

i understand where the 'misunderstanding' has occurred

but yes of course, there are many different types of 'artists'

and the level of their involvement in a project varies

if we talk about percentage splits and collaborations and 'rights' in that context

we're no longer on topic

but for anyone to say Prince did the 'same thing' to his artists as WB did to him

then Prince's artists would also need to be self-produced etc for that argument to stick

Great point, which everybody seems to have ignored....

Going on that logic, he DIDN'T want his masters ... not as much as he wanted the big bucks !

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!
