Major News ? Prince set to perform at MJ tribute in London ?!?

Well the news seems to be true.

Hip Hop N More reports that Prince is set to perform on 8th June at an MJ Tribute concert.

The venue is Wembley arena and the telecast is slated for 25th June.

Nice gesture if true.

One day after his Birthday? I don't think it's true, they are 'rumors'. And it isn't a All Star formation if you ask me... Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Usher?! bored2

Yes could be a rumour since even Hip Hop N More is not pretty convinced about it, but if it is true, then well, great !

IF this happens: The ? is, will Prince perform MJ-songs or his own...

I can't see Prince playing a setlist like:

Bad
Smooth Criminal
Man In The Mirror
Thriller
Billie Jean

encore:
Purple Rain

it just seems wrong. confused

hard 2 picture him doing it,
but it would be positive;

then again, prince likes rocking
large venues and stealing shows...

sounds like a great opportunity 4 him

I think it's wonderful news!
In Holland we've just strated a programme "Move like MJ" and the winner will also perform at the tribute Jermaine is planning. As Prince and MJ were both stars at that time and still are today, it makes sense that Prince would perform. Yipee razz

As a fan of both MJ and Prince, I hope he doesn't do the tribute. I heard his version of "Shake Your Body", and it wasn't...bad, but it wasn't good either. For Michael's sake and Prince's sake, Prince should just stick to doing what he does best: Prince. biggrin

If he did it, he'd probably do a set of Jackson 5 songs -- that's more his style.

Mj had a influence on Prince. They were not enemys, and i doubt they were the best of friends but I think they respected eachother. Prince use to listen to J5 stuff and Prince did say it was a honor being asked to duet on "Bad"

I hope not.

I live in London but I wouldn't attend this.

I cannot percieve the Jackson Fives, nor MJ's influence on Prince whatsoever.

If he didn't do a tribute for James Brown, I can't concieve why he'd do this.

Jimi Hendrix? - Yes.
Sly & The Family Stone? - Yes.
Joni Mitchell? - Yes.
James Brown? - Yes.
Parliament-Funkadelic? - Yes.

I can imagine Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Rick James more than MJ.

Well, Timberlake, Ne-Yo and Usher seem to me the best kind of pop-stars to take on his stuff.

That I expect. Prince? Fuck, no.

The inbuilt elitist snobbery of some Prince fans astounds me, Prince is/was a popstar. Not so long ago he won a Golden Globe for a kiddified pop song from a childrens film.

He's so not above and beyond trying to be a pop star still, when it takes his fancy, no matter much you folks shout "Musician!!!" bawl
The bulk of his live shows are still made up of his pop hits from the 80's for crying out loud.

Besides.... Purple and Gold. Mike never released anything remotely as bad, Hell even Heal the World had a beautiful melody (melody being a huge gaping hole in Prince's armour) infact Purple&Gold might well be the worst song that any of my favourite artists ever released.

And yeah, i agree, i don't want Prince at an MJ tribute either. Paris proved he can't do his songs justice anyway, and if his heart aint in it, don't bloody bother.

[b]I kind of agree. acutally I think that Prince and MJ had an allright relationship - this whole Prince or MJ - doesent make sense.... Look at the issuse MJ made about the SONY deal - very similar to Princes WB "case"... Iam not a big MJ fan, but I looked into the whole situation around MJ´s death; illumanti, chemetrails, record com. etc. etc... ; call me crasy, but it make some sense to me.

I will try to find the links that can confirm some of this, but please be patient and positiv... Its all about LOVE and POSITIVITY...

Im sure that the whole record industry is f..... up and there is a lot of strange things going on behind the curtains...

I think that both; prince and mj, were/are beautiful artist in there own rights...

Peace...

It's a rumour only, razz

created by the MJ camp....?

The MJ camp have done this before, created rumors to stir up a hype:

in 2001 it was a rumour that Prince would appear on the Invincible album,

this was stirring things up...

but in the end it did not happen.

Isnt it a bit too late to jump on this boat?
At this point it just seems weird for him to do, or participate in a tribute. It shoulda been done within a a month or 2 of his passing.
But, as Ive said before, if its a heartfelt performance, I think it will be great. But Prince isnt exactly known for showing that kind of emotion on stage.
I picture him turning it into a "prince" show. Much like he did at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

I think MJ fans are more excited about this,

more than Prince fans.

I still doubt it will ever happen.

IF Prince really was involved in this, he could change his mind a 1,000 times before summer 2010.

Don't confuse my agitation with excitement.

and don't fool yourself, Prince fans with no particular liking for MJ would be creaming their pants if he did this, mark my words.
