C-NOTE: Copenhagen/Nagoya/Osaka/Tokyo/Empty Room Love these 5 tracks. My favorite is Osaka and Tokyo. Nice instrumental jazz tracks with the exception of "Empty Room", which is a more of a rock track, and another favorite.
Another side of the music genius Prince. Copenhagen/Nagoya/Osaka/Tokyo, these tracks are good when you want to chill, lay back, listen to some good music, close your eyes, and soak it all in, like a "Take a minute to smell the coffee" moment. I don't think I've seen anyone talk about these 4 jazz tracks (not including "Empty Room), as often as other songs he's sang/performed. I purchased these off the old NPGMC site when C-Note was offered for purchase. [Edited 3/6/10 12:37pm]

The ONA1N1 virus hit me so hard back in 2002 that I ended up going from DC to the Celly, to London, to Osaka and Nagoya, and then to the Aladdin.
Every time I listen to Osaka and Nagoya, it takes me back to those particular soundchecks. I consider those tracks my special souvenirs. Throw in the fact that the opening Rainbow Children track on ONA Live! came from one of my DC shows, I ended up on stage in London, and my ugly mug ended up on the face of Aladdin DVD, I've got nothing but blissful memories of 2002, even if some heffa did steal my seat at the Aladdin..

Yes, they're both nice tracks. [Edited 3/5/10 19:31pm]

love it!
osaka/tokyo are my favorits too. especially the rain and weird bird/forrest sounds on the tracks. the atmosphere in them is totally awesome. while "empty room" is one of my personal favorit prince tracks, it does feel a bit out of place here, imo. although the transition is made a bit easier due to the 'vocals' on tokyo. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I agree, that "Empty Room" did feel a bit out of place on that track.

No and I saw it on the shelf at Best Buy 2 years ago when I was buying some other Prince cds. I knew I should have bought it. I will have to make a trip to Best Buy in the next two weeks and pick it up. [Edited 3/6/10 11:51am]

Listen, I safeguarded my copy of CD downloads from NPGMC. I knew that if I didn't, I would lose my copies. I love C-NOTE!!!! [Edited 3/6/10 11:52am] [Edited 3/6/10 11:52am] "A united state of mind will never be divided

C_NOte was a sly dig (although nice pressie) from prince to everyone who moaned about the npgmc website not giving away enough stuff.
Skipped forward to 2010 we should all be in for one hell of a present! ....

Skipped forward to 2010 we should all be in for one hell of a present! .... Yes, no coincidence that CNOTE is a $100 bill, which was the yearly subscription rate of the NPGMC at that time. His other "free" download was Xpectation - the title itself was another dig to fans. Also, each CNOTE track was initially released to a specific region via email. For example, the US might get Copenhagen while the UK got Osaka and France got Nagoya. We were instructed not to share the links with others. I believe Prince was conducting his own "honor system" experiment, all the while knowing full well that those links would be shared. It was not officially called CNOTE until the Musicology Store a few years later.

there is no high pitched violin on C-Note. you're probably thinking of Xpectation which has vanessa mae's violin on several tracks. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
