"Alexa de Paris" This song is truly supplanting "Lust U Always (Instr. Version)" as my all time favorite Prince instrumental. Great track! "Get up off that grey line"

I love it, wish it was about ten minutes long, and would love to hear him play it live.

For me it's one if his very best songs. I always thought it should have closed Parade.
You had Venus Closing Side One, and then Alexa Closing Side 2 and finishing the album. It works really well. If it had of been included on Parade it would have been the best song. That's how highly I think of it, because I consider Parade to be one of greatest albums of all time. Something BIG Is Coming.

Alexa de Paris is Prince's best attempt
at classical music or modern classical music . It sounds like Gustav Mahler in place's and it could be a great movie score. My dream would be if Prince starts doing music scores for the movies. Real music scores not just songs for the movies. imagine Prince and big classic orchestra tour with only music made for movies by Prince. He can go from classical to dixiland with one way ticket

He can go from classical to dixiland with one way ticket Before you start chiseling away at that marble bust, keep in mind Prince can't even read music. Alexa de Paris is no doubt a great rock instrumental but it's a far cry from Prince making any coherent use out of an orchestra. No hard feelings.

Great Track! I've heard it live. Can't remember when or where tho. It's been a loooong time! Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Twice live, I think. 03/03/86 in Minneapolis and late March 86 (?) in San Francisco. [Edited 3/5/10 22:37pm] She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

I hate to say this but, we must all not forget that W&L "influenced" this track along with about 95% of everything else that was composed between 85-86, hell with Lisa, I would go as far back as 81". Once again, I hate to say this, but Prince is only as good as the musicians around him...why do you think his early work sounds so real and pronouced today? It's because it was a "TEAM EFFORT" back then, it was never the "one man band" BS that many of have been "tricked" into believing from the Warner Brothers marketing Department... Aaron6

No it not all goood until you learn that all posts priasing material does not need some soliloquy negating the man repsonsible for it all. There was no need to bring wendy and lisa into this. Folks were doing fine until you started your bait shit up once again. Knock it off, learn to appreciate things without havuig to knock something and then things will be fine. You knock slick with your bs agenda. ok now lets chill

Me 2! Put ur hands on the march 1986 1st Avenue concert (bootlegged as "Veni vidi vicci" back in the days), he does play it. But the song doesn't really work live without the orchestra, and that's probably why he decided not to include it on the subsequent Hit&Run/Parade tour.
