Duets - 3 Do's & 3 Dont's

With all the recent postings about Prince and other artists working together, it would be interesting to see what 3 artists you would LOVE to see Prince do a duet with, and what 3 artists you would HATE for him to hook up with.

Here's my picks;

He SHOULD work with:

1. Santanna - this pairing is meant to be.
2. Janet Jackson - with Jam & Lewis at the helm of course.
3. Pink - she's better with an R&B groove. Can you imagine her doing "Sex Shooter" with him?

He SHOULDN'T work with:

1. Eminem - barf
2. Ja-Rule - yeah he's worked with everyone ELSE, but enuff's enuff already.
3. ANY "Boy Band" - I shudder at the mere thought.

Prince has sung SILLIER songs! "Get Your Groove On"..."So Far So Pleased"..."We March"...and many more...

I think this would be a fun live remake of the CCR classic...

or maybe 'Honky Tonk Woman' or 'Brown Sugar' by the Stones

or maybe 'Aint Nothin Like The Real Thing' by Marvyn/Tammi

or maybe 'Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)'

or maybe 'Fire & Desire' (Rick James/Teena Marie)

or maybe 'Nothing Compares 2 U'

or maybe 'I'll Take You There'

I could go on and on and on...

You have my sincere blessing and support on that:)

"Get Your Groove On" he once hailed as an answer to Jam & Lewis's hits of that time ('96)...he said something like "will make Terry Lewis make that fonky face and run home to his mama" or something like that...that song is a CRINGEFEST if you ask me...!!!

I'm sure Terry Lewis laughed his ass off while writing 'Velvet Rope'(title track) or 'Free Xone' for Miss Janet...

peace...

BTW...love the Stones logo! I'm a big RS fan myself...actually just pulled out STICKY FINGERS vinyl with a real zipper on the cover...'Sway' and 'I Got The Blues'...my fav songs to play while chillin on a Sat night!

DO:

On vocals and also co-writing the tune:

* Laurie Anderson
* Björk
* Erykah Badu
* Casandra Wilsson
* Maxwell
* TTD
* Tracy Chapman
* Mshell Ndegeocello [excuse my spelling]

On production, remixes and perhaps vocals or instruments:

* Radiohead
* Trent Reznor
* Tricky
* The Future Sound Of London

DO NOT:

Use anyone overtly commercial or momentarily hyped. That
stuff will sound weak and dull cause Prince will do all
the writing and instruments and drown their vocals in the
mix. On a duet he would need to work with someone strong
and stubborn who'd say "listen buddy, if you touch that
mixing board again I'm gonna stick that Habibi where the
sun don't shine".

He should definitely do something with david bowie, and Meshell Nedegeocello . Id also love to hear him work with Brit artists Ms Dynamite and Beverly Knight

Pink and Janet Jackson are a big no no. Id rather see him work with Madonna again as Love Song certainly didnt live up to all it promised.

Stevie Wonder also, but as with Bowie, how would such prolific and talented writers go on writing with Prince. I mean who would be the dominant contributer? I mean I cant see Prince relenquishing control.

I've been jonesing for Prince to get with Tricky for years. I think their sounds would be so compatible. And Tricky has expressed an obvious interest in his work. He even worked with Wendy & Lisa and Susan Rogers. I've met him on several occasions and one time we talked about Prince for at least a half hour. At the time, Crystal Ball had just recently come out and he didn't have it yet, so my friend and I gave him a backup copy. He was thrilled and started listening right away.

Prince, GET WITH TRICKY!!!

I couldn't see him doing a "duet" with anyone but a female...so in that light:

Madonna - Yes, again.
Cher - I'd love to see what he could do with that voice.
Annie Lennox - That voice!

thinks that should do it

Hi!

or maybe 'Honky Tonk Woman'

He did this song already on video "The Undertaker"

or maybe 'Nothing Compares 2 U'

He also did this song, first on Hits 1/2 and last year on
One Night Alone ... Live

BinaryJustin

01) Ms. Dynamite - Nu Soul packaged as UK Garage
02) Nina Simone - God, basically
03) Dionne Warwick - Icy cool vocals and more musically talented than her career choices (such as the Psychic Network).

As for three don'ts...

01) Wendy or Lisa - It'd only end in tears after all this time
02) Robbie Williams - Ugh. I hate the twat and they keep trying to foist him into the U.S. consciousness in small doses. Do not succumb, America!
03) Tony M - Never again!
