I swear this film has been shown on TV more times than an infomercial for dick enhancement. I've seen it so many times I can probably recite the dialogue.

Yeah, it came on one of the Encore channels the other day, so I said, "What the hell, I'll tape it." At least one of those Encore channels has been showing PR about every other week lately for some reason.

Every time they show it, it's in pan and scan format.

Turner Classic Movies actually showed it in letterbox once. That was a thing of beauty.

I could never get tired of seeing that movie!! I love it sooo much..

At least I won't have to put up with tv commercials and an edited movie for tv.

I managed to tape the unedited commercial-free version from Encore, which is considered a "premium" movie channel, much like HBO (IMO, to call Encore premium is like calling cow shit filet mignon).

I dont even watch it on tv anymore...

It was on my Vizio BluRay today while waiting for the DirectTV guy to come over.

If you guys haven't done so, I highly recommend you watch the movie w/ the commentary track with Albert Magnoli, Bob Cavallo, and one other fellow. It's really a whole different way to watch the movie. Albert, as a young film maker (this was really his first major film, we know) had a lot of ideas he wanted to try. The frame counting in the post-Father's Song scene, the way Darlin' Nikki, and The Beautiful Ones was lit and framed. The set that was posing as the back hallways to First Avenue. The audience reaction to Prince hitting Apollonia. The fact that there were 3 different ways the sex scene was shot, G, PG, and R. etc etc. I just watched it that way the other day (before we got DirectTV service in the new place), and I still enjoy it w/ the commentary track.
