I love having this one real loud when I'm stuck in traffic. I love this one all the songs are funky and have a fun feeling to them. Sometimes before my dance class we warm up to this. Everyone I play this for loves it. I love the talking parts as well very funny and light. Proverbs 23:9

"What's that funky smell?!"
This song rocks the house. As a side note, instead of "Bow Down," I used to think he was saying "Butt Out, MFer..." I don't know why, it makes no sense. But I loved it anyway and sang along at the top of my lungs. "GARSON! Avez-Vous un crayon? That's French, understand?"

Have you heard the remix of Sexy MF that samples the groove from Bump Squad? It's da bomb. Take it - like Clarence said:
"I got a million of them - all different U know."

It's tasty. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

You're all living in the past and your perceptions have changed. It's nowhere near as good as driving round with 77 Beverley Park playing at full blast...
top tune, with a bit of editing, it would probably have been a hit in the UK if released after the Good Life single. Erik blah blah blah

greatness. always wished that after he was completely 'free', he would release some of those exodus tracks with his own vox as lead. but i guess he would probably consider that a diss to sonny, whom does a good job of it anyway. but still, there is always that feeling that it might perhaps be even greater still if it had prince on full out lead. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yep, I love it. Definitely one of the best from the 90's.
So good in fact that i named my band after it. We're an 8 piece funk band in Brighton UK. www.myspace.com/returnofthebumpsquad (No, we aren't a Prince tribute! If anything it's more like Parliament-Funkadelic) But yeah ace tune! [Edited 2/21/10 6:21am]

Although I think I prefer The Exodus Has Begun. Definitely one of the strongest and funkiest title tracks he's ever produced. It's a whole other monster to me. He should have started the album with "Bump Squad" and let the title track be the last track (which it was). It would have been a WHAM BAM starting and ending.

Nah i think Get Wild is a perfect opener, apart from the segue's it's a pretty stand up album, would've liked Sonny's version of Love Thy Will Be Done on it though.

One of his best "modern funk" tracks.
I'm going to put Exodus on now!

Although I think I prefer The Exodus Has Begun. Me too. That was like Prince and the NPG had thumbed a lift on the P Funk mothership. Dead funky.

Oh my, Bump Squad is a lot of fun. The title says it all, it really is bumping the whole 7 minutes or so and the result is incredible.
Now when you listen to the part where they talk about Nona Gaye might wanting to sell her tape, it's really a reminder of how things used to be. Not only is this thing funky, it's also telling us a story. Oh, talk about funky: The part which only lasts a few seconds where Sonny tells to "turn that loop off, damn!", it gets me every time. The whole album is an appreciation for George Clinton and P-funk.
