Prince's lyrics 1994-2009 It's not that he didn't have some great lyrical moments since '94 but for me, many of the lyrics are just blah. Of course music and lyrics are matter of taste and personal preferece but many of the opinions about the latest song made me think. Since 1994 what songs have I found inspirational/spiritual/motivating or in another sense, maybe moving or thought provoking for me. There was so much from 1978-1992, I haven't taken the time to review.
Just realized after typing the numbers 1978-1992 and 1994-2009 how f'n long Prince has been releasing music. It seems kinda funny to be critical of an artist's output over a 30 year period (I mean 30+ freakin' years, damn, it's really amazing, stop and think about it) but for me, there is definetly a line of demarcation in the quality of lyrics, obviously not the quantity  . His musical range is almost always interesting..
From 1994-2009 this is my list. What other songs have you guys found moving or thought provoking during the same period Papa Space (Universal Love Remix) Dolphin Into the Light I will Somebody's Somebody Holy River Soul Sanctuary The Truth Comeback Strays of the World Make your momma happy Ther rest of my life I love u, but don't trust u anymore Everywhere Last December Here On Earth Dear Mr.Man When I Lay My Hands On U Reflection The Word Beautiful, Loved and Blessed Somwhere Here On Earth Here Better With Time Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful There are 26 songs there but out of how many he released it's a small percentage. The percentage from 1978-1992 was much higher. Prince is by far my favorite musical artist and has been since 1981 but I have found the songs that have an impact are few an far between. Oh well, I will still listen to everything who puts out because he still uncorks an occasional gem. | |

Why do you focus on the "low points" in your opinion, instead of the genious. Cause P's put out some fairly introspective genious quirky lyrics this century that's maybe not has simply as "I Wanna Be Your Lover" but sure as heck is deeper with wisdom enclosed messages intact from the One up above
