Man I was all about to leave this joint for another year and took one last look at the forum. That's when I saw this post. Grats! You're obviously not the typical sucka that feeds off the propaganda here. Sure, its a "fan" site, but when the artist is making shit for years and years, a fan site should be honest and let the "arteest" know that he'd better get back to work, back to the basics. But alas I think I agree with you. He's just simply flat out lost the ability.

Toast!

In your opinion.

What makes that so much better than those that enjoy his recent output?
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Prince still writes great songs! I think people are expecting something groundbreaking & innovative like he did in the 80's but that's not going to happen. An innovator can only innovate for so long, no 51 year old who has written over 3000 songs can be an innovator. They've used up all the best of their creative juices! Once you raise the bar you can't raise it again, only someone from the next generation can do that. It's a Sign O' the Times wink

I think people need to get their head out of the Purple Rain Rafters & come down to Prince's level. They're expecting too much, & therefore they unfairly disregard his latest releases as pure shit because they aren't as innovative as his early releases. Get real people!

It's pretty clear from Purple 'n Gold and Cause and Effect that Prince can no longer write meaningful music and that any hope of a great new Prince song or album is deader than dead. But Prince will always be a legend, no matter if he realizes 100 bad albums in a row. So this thread is to show appreciation for Prince's past work and accomplishments, kind of like spilling out some champagne when your homie dies.

How can prince be the same?? When people say he's out of touch with reality.... Ofcourse he is!! his reality is different then 95% of people on earth.

Prince has always wrote music about his current reality. Its just that his current reality is no longer about SEX Drugs and rock n roll!!!

He's Free now!! his best music was wrote when he was searching for himself.. everyone can relate to that. Not to many people can relate to being FREE!!

Prince was pure genius. Then he wanted to be a "Free" artist - and the quality went down,

But let's remember the brilliant music and forget the bad.

Hopefully the vaults contains some interesting music.

But will this ever be released?

Strange - and a mystery - if the vaults contains 500 unreleased songs - and yet he is releasing the bad ones.....

I like the song "Cause & Effect, and his good MUSIC,
but i think ,he has a greater potential,
cause & effect = the cicle of Rebirths,
the nexst step is ego RESOLVING, and extinguish the avidity, anxiety, passion
to come to his inexhaustible divinity and origin.

Hell Yes, Hallejujah to that! I just don't know what people want. He isn't going to make the same music he made 20 years ago, i'm sad that you don't like where he is now but the constant negative bullshit just makes sad. 20 years ago he was in his musical prime and freaky, the guy is now 50 if you don't like it don't listen to it and do what yoda says. wink

Prince will always be known as a legend. A musical genius. Music, it's who he is. This picture of Yoda reminds me of somebody and it's so wrong you mentioned cross-eyed. You need scriptures. The Bible. Jesus. lol but I'm happy someone can appreciate scripture. sexy angel

Everyone talking smack about how great Prince used to be years and years ago but they still waiting anxiously for the next song to drop. If your significant other cooked up bland, horrible tasting dinners for years and years would you still run home after work expecting culinary delight? When is it enough to say it's enough. I simply think we've come into a new era on the Org. The Era Of The Undercover Fan/Prince Addict.

If you find yourself disliking everything Prince has done for more than 5 years...
Are convinced the next song to drop will restore that old "1984" feeling in you...
Do you post continously about how you've reached the limit and can no longer support Prince...

then you are The Undercover Fan/Prince Addict.

If 'Purple & Gold' ruined it for you yet again and you just knew that 'Cause & Effect' was going to do it for you like Prince used to do it for you...

then you are The Undercover Fan/Prince Addict.

Sad thing is there's no intervention in your future only the 2 tickets you'll sell your soul to get when Prince gets within a 100 mile radius of your town!

lol
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

i havnt heard purple and gold but damn cause and effect is 4/10 he can do so much better, its as if hes not challenging himself or relying on the work hes already done, i mean after mj, rick james im just greatful hes alive making music, but he needs to centre himself around people who will give theyre honest opinion and say 'ah that part sounds childish, that parts wack' instead of ppl im guessing who just nod theyre heads. I was shocked on C. And E he had a little charisma left. Come on P you always knew how to make meaningful music, be innovative and still make us groove!

Good lord...
I just dont get it. Ive said this before. But here is a very short version of it....
Think if he were like the average artist and released an album every 3 years. And the average album being 10 songs.
Now think about all his albums since 1990 in 3 year increments. Take the best 10 songs off each album and make ONE album out of them.
We would be salivating over his albums if this were the case.

Instead of complaining about the "crap" on his albums, enjoy the good stuff.

He has released more great songs in the past 32 years than any artist in the same time frame. Just because his albums arent "great" from beginning to end, doesnt mean he has lost it, or he isnt great anymore.
MJ was praised for his albums, but my God..he only released a handful of music in his entire solo career.

You show me an artist that can release 32 "great" albums in 32 years (some of which are multi cds) and Ill show you my new favorite artist!
