Reading through most threads here and taking the temperature of general Prince fandom leads me to think his fanbase these days, whether young and old, is either bitter, apathetic, vitriolic and generally pissed off... Maybe Prince really is bad for your health - if you're a Prince fan...

Was this always the case, though? I think YES... From Howard Bloom to the Controversy lady (her name now escapes me) being a Prince fan has always appeared to be the quickest way to a stomach ulcer and a possible early grave...

I don't think Prince is bad for anyone's health. I think the people that take this place as life and death are what is bad for one's health. This place is like a diet u have to think about what u eat and what it will do to you be4 u take a bite of what is being handed out on here. I think Prince fans in general are really cool people with very good taste they just don't know how to let go of the past and except the now. I think when u place expectations on anyone you are bound to be disappointed. Prince don't owe no one anything the man has paid his dues and many others. I think Prince fans mostly on this site need to take a step back and relax and enjoy Prince for who he is now. If u don't like him than leave him alone no one is forcing u to stick around. I say let Prince be and if u don't like it try to do what he does and post it and we will talk about your life's work and how u don't seem to be cutting edge but ripping off others and have lost your edge. I dare anyone who complains about Prince to try to make something (music) post it so we can hear what u can do.....I bet this place will sound like silence. I hear the crickets!

a funny idea, but I think people's reactions to him are more related to their own feelings than anything he inspires. The highly negative reactions come from critical people, and the praise comes from more positive & supportive people.

I am not judging either type as better or more correct in their assessments of his material, it's just an observation.
