I don't understand what kind of crack people are smoking to think that a middle aged man singing about doing the nasty is any more inappropriate than a young man doing so. It's like you lot think he's old, and that old people don't fuck. What weirds me the fuck out is that most of you are older than I am. How is it that I, at not-yet-25, am cool with the idea of middle aged and older people being sexually expressive, but many of you who are in that age group aren't? Did y'all grow up in a convent? Also, I would imagine it's a lot nicer for your grandkids/neices nephews etc. when one day they want to find out what the old man sung to become such a big star.. Yes those turns of phrase are, for me, one of the main things that attracted me to Prince, but he's not even turning phrase like that at this time. For me, it's never been about him being "dirtier", his whole vibe has change, and IMHO, it's more than him getting older, finding religion (because he always knew God), marketing, or whatever. Prince is and will always be a rebel, and his newfound restraint and maturity in this age of MILF's and adults acting out as if they were children it is striking. Grown folks do fuck, and talk about fucking but there is a cringe factor when someone is acting in such a way that makes you worry that they never evolved. It's like drinking, it used to be cool to drink a lot and see what happened-it was cool, social and you laughed alot. At 42 i'm only 5 lbs removed from my prime and probably in better shape but my body dont metabolize alcohol the way it once did, and the friends i drank with who still drink alot dont laugh-they turn into angry drunks. I am a grandparent, and my daughter is 21 she's not stupid, she realizes that in my age group i'm considered cute and even sexy- but do i walk around in tight ass under armour shirts because i can? or to prove i'm still sexy?. No. Listen, when you are young alot of the shit you do in wear is coming from a place of "i think" or "am i?" but when your grown your sex appeal comes from a place of " I am "or "I know", a confidence rooted in years of affirmation. Prince willingly chooses a suit now, nodbody made him, Prince deliberately chooses not to cuss-hell i have kids and i still struggle with it lol, Prince has been with more women than the average man will even know personally. Prince dont have to act out, nor parody himself and look foolish like some of the older stars out there- he authored his own chapter in the "Sex in Pop Culture" bible, Prince aint guessing ..He Knows he is Sexy and that is some powerful shit. | |

BUT.... what if he did? What if he suddenly whipped out some filth like we havent seen since Erotic City or Head? Could we really accept the 51 year old Prince singing about oral sex, the different positions he'd do his woman in, or masturbation? Sure..at times I long for the Purple Rain Prince...but I think thats just part of me that misses the past. In all reality, I dont want "todays" Prince to bring that act back. I mean, i thought Crockett and Tubbs from the 80's miami vice were the coolest guys in the world. But would it be cool to what they did then, in 2010? NO. So maybe we should figure out if we just, A- miss the past, or, B- we really want Prince to change back to his past self.
