"Playtime" bootleg ? A question to the bootleg experts...
I'm a casual collector/listener when it comes to boots, I got the classics but that's it... So I found this fairly new (?) collection called "Playtime" featuring Prince songs often-played-live/never-available-as-studio-versions... A good release? | |

The sound quality is all over the place on this one. But it's an interesting concept, with some true gems. Don't pay for it. It's readily available in lossless on the interwebosphere.

The set did a good job at rounding up all the outtakes (though that might not be the correct term for all the tracks) that have been performed live, but for which a studio version isn't circulating or may not even exist. I'm not sure a casual fan would be interested, but I think it's necessary for the hardcore collectors and completists. It's a free release, though, so it doesn't hurt to download it and give it a listen.
