I'm exhausted but I feel you sacrifice and Ernest. Woo those typos!
I agree with what many have posted here. I know I've been 1 to defend Prince. Especially when all the girls (and guys) start talking about his and in'. I admit I've taken comments way personal and defended this man I love. Sorry for all the times theWrong1 has logged on to become Prince's one and only "Ride or Die" chick. "That bitch out the window poppin' heat in yo ass" homegirl. Some have called theRight1 a "homophobe", "bitch" and compared me to Tame. Prince has been a rock star for a long time. He's in his own friggin Purple world and although I sometimes get turned off by too much of his cryptic and mysterious behavior, I support him. I've only spent about $800 on Prince since 1984 but I'd do it again because his music has brought me love, peace and joy. He has entertained me like no other. So all for the love of Prince Rogers Nelson aka (from what I've learned here on the org) "Cat Daddy" aka "Mr. Nice Nasty", I don't care what he does. He only has to answer to God. Not me. Not you. I only ask that he continues to make music. I pray God continues to give him clarity and wisdom as he evolves. Is Prince truly a nice person and worthy of being defended??? I choose to love him unconditionally and for the record I Thank him for all of the awesome music, performances, and love.

Isn't it time to put the The $77 issue to rest.
The average CD costs $14-$20 ($14x2=$28) T-shirt = $15 Private Concert = $31.21 Additional 3 songs New and old videos (many of which I've never seen) You do the math.....the website cost between $3 and $7 depending on adjustments for the T-shirt. Just because you cannot afford or chose not to afford the fee, why try to make a big deal of it? Those of us who did pay and have a calculator, ain't complaining. [Edited 2/24/10 23:00pm]

Okay let's do the math. The album was only $11.99 in stores, and is now $4.99, yet the website is still $77 promising the same thing, nothing more, than it did a year ago this time. If you're adjusting for the variable price of an item, then adjust the whole thing down by just over 50%. Also, there are those who did not get their t-shirts, so adjust that down another $10 or $15 depending if you can find the same quality at Walmart or Macy's. Private concert where? Was there a tour throughout the US that I missed? Were the a plethora of fans who paid for the site that got special seating in the ever coveted "purple circle"? 3 additional songs? Where? The only difference was "The Morning After" was available on the website version only, and "Crimson and Clover" was on the CD only. So that's one extra song. Are the other two songs the instrumental to "Chocolate Box" called "Discojellyfish", and the "Ambient Loop" mp3 that plays on the main page? "In A Large Room With No Light" only floated around the internet, to my knowledge. Was it ever available for download? Or was it streaming only?

I think Prince is a very smart man he has to be, because he is still in the entertainment biz. And by the way you have to be a firm sometimes, because people will run over you. You can't tell anybody what to do, Prince is his own person. This website that really care about their artist Prince some of them are being honest. Yeah you might have a few people on the site trying to get notice. Some of them are so truthful if a song they don't like hey they tell it. you can't find any fans like that. They will usually will say it good not be honest. In the entertaiment biz you can get anything you want. People can lie and be your friend at the drop, not being honest. I respond to your post, because i defend and I support. But if I see something wrong I speak up. Maybe you don't see anything thats cool. But to say someone is attacking some one because they have and opinion thats wrong. Because Prince is strong in my opinion and he speaks up for his rights. And the people that really care do to. Thats my opinion. Again Constructive criticism, or constructive analysis, is a compassionate attitude towards the person qualified for criticism. When you're that obsessive, your expectations will never be met and then its just a downward spiral from there.
I wish I was a completest in my collecting activities, but I'm just not. I do have a lot of stuff though. We were all obsessed with Prince at some point, whether it was buying loads of memorabilia, or listening to SOTT 3 times a day. I just want good music, and someone who doesn't take advantage of their fans. I think Prince does that. Prince and Metallica are kind of in the same category on a lot of fronts. Metallica lost a lot of fans, and Prince has lost a lot too. That does bother me. I wish Prince was bigger. I wish he was still as noteworthy as he once was in the public eye. But you have to look at the bigger picture sometimes. Do you ignore the way he's fucked over people by law suits and bullying, and just focus on the music? Or do you see it as something different? It's a personal decision. I will always love Prince and I will always be a fan. I'm not a puppy though. For all of us who have bought, at least, every album he's released - we (and you) ARE invested in his business. If I go to Red Lobster and order a lobster and I get a snow cone...someone's gonna know about it. Prince once said music should be free like air. Well, it's getting harder and harder to breathe. It's not about nit picking - it's just still trying to believe in an artist you have grown to love and respect on a music level. I don't want to see him fail, or put out shitty and vapid music, 2nd rate product, and lie to people about what to expect. I want Prince to just remember who Prince is/was and always should be. All fair comment ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Were we? Define obsession. Metallica lost a lot of fans, and Prince has lost a lot too. That does bother me. I wish Prince was bigger. I wish he was still as noteworthy as he once was in the public eye.
Why do you want Prince to be "bigger"? How does that make fandom better? He is pretty much one of the biggest superstars ever. Is he your young, flavor of the moment, top 40 artist? Nope. Was he ever really? He can still sell out arenas without pause, he still puts asses in the seats. Also, his last few albums (regardless of your feeling about them) have charted top 5. But you have to look at the bigger picture sometimes. Do you ignore the way he's fucked over people by law suits and bullying, and just focus on the music? Or do you see it as something different? It's a personal decision.
Yes. Everything else is speculative. We don't know Prince. It is always odd to me when people get personally affected by public people and their persona. From Tiger Woods to Mel Gibson. "Oh I am not a fan because they are this or that." Whatever, you have an idea in your mind of who Prince (or celeb) is and if they don't live up to what fans think they should be, it affects the fans life? It's weird to me. I will always love Prince and I will always be a fan. I'm not a puppy though.
You will love Prince unconditionally? Why all the complaining? For all of us who have bought, at least, every album he's released - we (and you) ARE invested in his business. If I go to Red Lobster and order a lobster and I get a snow cone...someone's gonna know about it.
Come on. You don't like a new Prince album and it's the difference between a lobster and a snow cone? Really? That vast of a difference? Prince once said music should be free like air. Does the record store charge an admission to come inside to buy something? Hell no, that would be stupid and they know that nobody would be fool enough to pay the admission. That's exactly right. I've heard that argument over and over, and totally agree with it. If a product is good enough, people will buy it, but no one is going to pay to pay for it. Reminds me of these big sales they have in certain city's arenas (like a flea market for a weekend), but they charge you $10 just to walk in the place. Prince can go fuck himself if he keeps doing that. NPGMC was different a bit because you were promised music each month, an audio show, and videos, and most times, he delivered that. They actually listened to the fans and made HI and LO versions of video and audio tracks. However, the next year when he charged $25 to get into a site to see a bunch of flash content bullshit and buy something - eh, go fuck yourself Princey. It's stupid. "I'm chargin' $7 a plate!" Frankly, I'm just as irritated at grocery stores, CVS, Best Buy, Hallmark, Pet's Mart, and tons of other places that make me have their card to get a discount on an item. Why do I need to build up "points" for something? It takes FOREVER to gain enough points to do anything worth while with. You have to spend spend spend, just to get a pat on the back w/ these places. Just give me the damn sale price, but don't fucking tease me with it. And you know what? If I don't have the card, then the cashier uses theirs, and gets whatever "points" goes onto a card, based on MY purchase. It's horse shit, and I try my best to not patronize places that penalize me for not kissing their ass. Same goes for Prince and his "pay to get in" sites.

He talked a lot, as did the webmasters, about the interactive relationship between them both while building and visualizing the Lotusflow3r website. Prince had some shindig at his house with fans showing up. The website was hyped greatly, and other stages of how it could/would grow were shown. Fans came out saying "OMG I was in Prince's house, and used his toilet", but they also said "the website is going to be awesome, just wait". Prince talked about the site itself a lot in interviews, talking about how it was going to grow and new things would be released systematically over time (implying new things every month or two). So I don't think he was blind to anything going on with the website. He also lives under the excuse of "losing interest quickly" in a project, as some genius-justified way of thinking that fans are supposed to just accept in lieu of him being some 50 year old phenom with websites. The opposite is true. I don't think Prince ever had intentions of making the website more than it what it is right now. Sure there are some videos on there, but can you buy them? Or just stream them in the middle of a flash heavy (and just so because it's harder to grab flash content sometimes, than a streaming MP3 or MOV) page? Remember, this is the same man who, in 1988 or so, said Cat's album was going to "be huge", and that people wouldn't be able to ignore it. His powers of prediction leave a lot to be desired.

Oh, I remember that NPG Music Club. I didn't join it either but right there towards the end, you could go to a certain section for free and purchase music (a download..big deal) if you wanted to. It had an equalizer that you could press and hear an unreleased track and all of them sounded sellout and shit hoppish, the kind I would never buy anyway. None of the good unreleased jams like "Extra Loveable" or "Turn It Up". I remember seeing a thread here on the org during that time (this was during the "Musicology" tour) that some of the members had gotten good seats and bragged that they were given pizza before the show. Pizza? Oh, hell naw! What the hell is this shit "Sesame Street Live"? You don't give no damn grown folks something like pizza as a perk. Hell, there should have been unlimited booze given to the members. Shit, I want to get fucked up when I go to a concert and food ain't gonna do nothing but wear off the buzz. And knowing Prince, it was probably a damn cheese pizza so he could preach to people about the evils of eating meat. I'm telling ya, he's really out there these days giving grown folks shit that they would get at a Barney concert. Andy is a four letter word.

He talks a good game about loving people and doing the right thing but does he follow through? During the concert with Chaka Khan in Madison Square Garden there were people going around offering free champagne to the crowd. Imagine that! Prince produces music not websites his business deals work on budgets which are tight if his "people" become "Yes" men/women to him of course they are never gonna deliver what he wants for the money ... I think Prince is always aware that people around him record companys etc.. will try and do him out of money so he works to tight budgets ... my guess is the website designers ran out and failed to deliver is vision... We all know a demo website is just a demo ... My guess Prince as up front how much is this gonna cost ? and we all know what the website guys said right..... Hence the problem... Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

I don't have a comment on Prince's personal business affairs. Music has always been a luxury product. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
