at least people took advantage of it and bought it. it was a one-off set that made prince and target some money.

The album has sold 403,335 units at year's end according to Soundscan. I would think by now, it's at about 420,000 at most. Not Gold quite yet.

"Chocolate Box" with Q-Tip, and "Crimson and Clover". There was also a big TV advert commercial campaign with "Dreamer", and print campaign with ads in papers, and in store promotions. There's still a still from the "Dreamer" commercial over the video section at my local Target. He also performed on Jay Leno 3 times, Ellen once, and a few other appearances. So yeah, there was promotion. Singles are a dead medium.

That is amazing for being released at only one store chain. Just amazing...That is a hit album with no radio play...... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Sure - but no one saw those videos except people who already buy everything Prince releases because you had to be on Lotusflow3r to see them - or be some kind of internet geek who lives in cyber world enough to download them illegally. The Leno performances probably did the most to promote it - but even national TV performances dont have the impac tof being on the music television channels and the radio. THat is where records are sold and new Prince material is not present in those channels at all.

some of you complains about the lack of promotion, ok, but try to be danish - the LF set wasn't even released in Europe... and Target wouldn't sell it over the internet.
It was like Prince and LF didn't even happened, and only very few reviews, (1 danish afaik).... Prince used to be reviewed by the whole press, I used to enjoy reading those. I hope the next release will be better promoted, and released on a big company. Prince 4Ever.

Yeah, but the word "PROMO" suggests some airplay, dont you think? Promo is just a word. There were videos. If no station picked them up, then that's the station's decisions, I suppose. I'm not sure a black station gives a shit about a cover of "Crimson and Clover", opposed to something like "U're Gonna C Me", which would have been a better single for urban or pop radio.

Lotusflow3r is a great album that should have been released worldwide with some good promotion. I was wery disapointed with the way it was released. Welcome 2 The Dawn

So yeah, there was promotion. Singles are a dead medium. I think singles are only a dead medium because nobody bothers to make them a cool thing anymore. You know... exclusive artwork, maybe an unreleased song or two packaged with it, and CHEAP. Poor people and teenage kids without jobs like to be able to buy something every once in a while too you know... I know LotusFlower is only 5 dollars or whatever, but sometimes that 99 cent 7" or even cassette or cd single is just what you want. I feel like singles started sucking right about the time the cd was released. Like the record companies just stopped caring about quality control on singles. All the good singles (nice art, actual B-sides)were suddenly 10 dollar imports and the domestic singles were like 5 or 6 bucks for one song and maybe a shitty remix...
