As enjoyable as it might be, Prince isnt going to do that. And he shouldnt. The difference between him and his most of his 80s contemporaries is that they are stuck in the 80s doing music that made them famous about 25 years ago. They arent making new music and if they are, no one knows or cares. Ask any funk artist or band from the 80s. Why you think there hasnt been any new material from The Time in 20 years?

Prince, like his hero Miles Davis, has to keep moving forward. There is always time to look back but the future waits for no man. Prince wouldnt be Prince if he rested on his laurels and jsut played Little Red Corvette for everyone. What harm would just one old school gig do? Probably not much for most artists. But then Prince has never been most artists.

This would be a CELEBRATION not a cd or new music therein IS the difference. Ole school is the foundation after
classical that CHANGED the world, which then led into Rock N roll.

A one time celebration of ole school would educate new generations of the basic fundamentals of Raw and Reel-2-Reel music, and Tubular Tudor recording.

I'de say bringing the ole school FORWARD.

Thank you.

Did you just make up a term, and then make up a definition for it? Please clarify exactly what you mean by "Ole School"...

Seriously... I though Baroque music was the next big thing after classical... and I kinda thought it was Blues music and early R&B and doo-wop that helped influence the beginnings of rock and roll... But now I know it must have been this "Ole School" that you speak of...
All those years I spent studying music history and music theory were totally wasted I guess. Oh well.

Chess records...That should help you!

Not eras...

I am talking industry and about classical - glad you studied I; however was in a symphony then straight to ole school with a Tudor recording device with Chizmo Charles, who wrked with Ella... So yah, they call it OLE School. Need more talk to Chizmo where I'm at.

The point is...the kind of music getting lost in translation with the radio of today.

Thank you.

Are you looking for some long-lost Alan Lomax field recording of a Prince show?

I am studying Music History rite now, it's pretty interesting, learning bot the Teleharmonian and the Theremin and Clara Rock more and the origins of it all, pretty sweet travel thru time, maybe Prince can go on an adventure wit me sometime soon, see the everglades and the 'Redwood forest' u know cool

He should he wouldn't be stuck in the 80's not connecting with his fans ...You got all of that backwards it is backward thinking.. Prince doesn't have to play Little Red Corvette he could play his current stuff. Prince had a good idea in Oct 2009 at Paisley Park where he invited his fans to party with him.. So Prince knows he needs to connect with his fan base.. The only thing you said
that was postive was about Miles looking forward.... Not connecting to your fans is backward thinkin. Connecting with your fans is forward thinkin. I have
much Faith that Prince will do the Right thing.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Me too! I was thinking today that I haven't been to Paisley Park since the celebration in 2002. In a weird kind of way, I miss it. lol I want to go back and see it again.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

didn't he do that in the late 90's? Every summer for about 5 years. Somebody help me outh with this. I was only able to attend one but WOW. They lasted for about a week and was on the lawn of Paisly Park and there was a tour of the house. It was like a massive Rainbow Children cookout. I remember my son asked "are we going to Uncle Princes' house?" lol ... he was 4.

Damn, just posted something similar and you got more responses! Don't care--totally agree with you--time for an in-residence concert series at Paisley or a local venue that can hold more people! We are ready for it! Do it state-side P! As posted--Ole Skool, Ole times! cool
