I don't like PR gigs that much. For example I find The Revolution bootleg dvd a little bit boring.. But Parade gigs.. ! with the Purple Rain tour ... the expectation was huge, Prince had a format he wanted to follow and it was still in promotion of the movie. He started to loose a bit during the ATWIAD/Parade Tour (which started 2 have some after shows:Susannah's Blue) the impromptu shows the did at 1st Avenue during the PR era were very much different, raw. 6.7.1984 show still can't be touched

purple rain

Purple Rain of course..Because the music was outstanding, the movie was outstanding. I consider the Purple Rain era a representation of the "Real Prince". The Purple Rain era is and will always be apart of Prince's legacy. And it's the time period even non-Prince fans speak upon.
BTW I find it funny how some people when it comes to Lovesexy always mention his hair or somethin crazy like that for the reason that they love the era..What about the music? Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

LOVESEXY! Because Prince had alot more energy. Had Cat,Dr. Fink, Eric and all them and they were just more lively. Yet i like The Revolution alot 2oo. I would say Luvsxy.

1999 Era trumps it all. The last days of cultstaus, you were still apart of an underground click but then boom, the breakthrough LRC on MTV, but he was still yours cus he didnt say shit and the Triple Threat Tour was for badass's only lol. The PR Tour had you seated nexted to suburban moms taking their bratty kids who thought he fell out of thin air- who thought beautiful ones was makeout music, when us holdovers knew you could get fucked listening to Do Me Baby. The look was more streamlined, more punkish and hard-that 1999 jacket was never trumped despite the budget for PR. The 1999 Album was the true masterpiece, longer and stronger-you'd have to take elements from Lovesexy and PR to come close. The B sides 17 Days, Erotic City, are what they are but How come you dont call me was the shit and far removed from the patented sound- a piano ballad. Irrisitible Bitch one of his greatest B Sides ever, right up there with Erotic City. He was still mysterious, still dangerous and still ours.

U must not have witnessed teh PR era, to say he had more energy during the Lovesexy era... In what way do you actually mean though? Dr Fink Eric were there during the PR era too I'ven never witnessed or heard the extended jams on the Lovesexy tour or aftershows that I heared on the PR tours not to mention the all night band jam sessions with the Revolution,

1999 & Purple Rain are so meshed though I think the PR B sides:Another Lonely Christmas, Erotic City, 17 Days,God the Dance Electric have 1 up on the the 1999 Bsides:Horny Toad, How Come U Don't Call Me..., Irresistable Bitch the 1999 Time band kill the PR Time band Vanity 6 kill Apollonia 6 but Purple Rain gave us Sheila E & the Glamorous Life like Dez said Prince wanted to make it too much like a broadway show the Triple Treat tours were wild and dirty, as dangerous as the PR tour was the 1999TTT was probably more killer
