"Purple Rain Era" VS. "Lovesexy Era" So If you had to pick between these two.... (I know some of you have seen both tours!) which era did you like better? the music/ the look/ the performances/ the band... Did or do you enjoy one more than the other? maybe because you can relate to songs from that certain album...
I know this is a hard one I love them both but if I had to pick I'm going "Purple Rain" because I love the songs! very creative and interesting sound (Prince was in his prime) He has my favorite image in that era, And I down right just love the motha fucking Revolution (they are the shit)!! Dont get me wrong I have lots of love for npg and I liked Cat and shelia E butt there just something about the revolution that makes me smile So what do you all think? If im not correct about something I've stated above let me know... insatiable3: how can i cure my hangover?

"Purple Rain" by far. "Lovesexy" is good but it's not "Old Prince". Andy is a four letter word.

The Lovesexy Band was a lot better than the Revolution.
Not that the Revolution wasn't a great band, but they couldn't touch the Lovesexy band. Sign O the Times was a better record than Purple Rain. But the mania surrounding Purple Rain was amazing. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

I mean, Purple Rain was great and all, but i can;t dig a man with hair taller than me. Things were smoother in Lovesexy.
Long, silky hair, the little ruffle midriff showing blouse, tight pants, high heels.... Why the hell do I feel like I'm describing a WOMAN? I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

Lovesexy. That band could do anything.

I honestly don't know how you can compare one to the other! Since there are so many Prince "eras!" I mean, if I had to choose, would I pick the Prince of my youth with so many dated memories attached, the Prince of "Lovesexy," when he had his "reported" drug dalliance, the Prince I really got into again during the "Gold Experience" era, after which I dropped out for fifteen years...or the "re-discovered" Prince who is now a JW?! I think someone can have a preference, but honestly, there are songs I like from every era...maybe less now than in the past...but I even like some off the Lotusflower three disc series!

Purple Rain era simply because of the fashion. To me, Lovesexy featured some of the gaudiest WWE looking clothes that Prince ever wore.
I know some fans really dig the look of Prince circa 1988, but it cannot compete with the classic revolutionary royal badness of 1984. "New Power slide...."

PR era vs love sexy...
PR era in terms of fashion was on point from the hair to the detail on the coats the blouses, L.S was more out there, to me Prince really took the title of a male fashion icon/fearless. Even in grafiti bridge era with the leather jacket cut of on one sleeve and cut leather pants OMG. In terms of the band, musically (in terms of structure and composition) wendy and lisa really helped, the songwriting is better and the chemistry. But the band in love sexy were more entertaining with the dancing/performing. Still had chemistry, sexual chemistry in particular (i.e him and Cat Glover) The songs in the purple rain era were better. but then in the love sexy era (with that particular album) there are like four songs that are absolutely amazing and then the rest are just OK ----- DO MY QUIZ PEOPLE its for my A lol http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/D75SBCB

LOVESEXY baby.
The band, the fashion, the music... It was all UNTOUCHABLE. I do nothing professionally. I only do things for fun. johnart: Acrylic's old bras is where tits of all sizes go to frolic after they die. Tit Heaven.

I find myself playing the Lovesexy CD, Remixes, Videos, live DVD, and CD aftershows far more than I do anything from the Purple Rain era. The Lovesexy look has always been my favorite of all Prince eras. Don't get met wrong, I feel strongly about everything Purple Rain...but I'll have to go with the Lovesexy era.
On a side note, the band of the Lovesexy era was not called the NPG. It was just simply Prince. TRUE BLUE

Lets not forget the infamous ONE CONTINUOUS track Lovesexy album. Who the heck else would pull a stunt like that?
LoveSexy had a feel and vibe like no other. Maybe it was drug induced, maybe not. But regardless... to this day, I still get that same feeling when I listen to the album.

I Know the, "Lovesexy," album, but I never saw the tour, or the concert/movie, "Sign 'o' the times." I love all of the music Prince has released with any band members.
I have to go with, "Purple Rain," anyway, because that part of Prince is a foundation to anything Prince built on after that. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
