Tonight is the first time I've listened to the bootleg version of "live 4 Love" on the work CDs ..... Can not believe how good this early version is, so much darker than the original, love the way he sings the verses.

A truly awesome song off a faultless album (yes including Tony "get on the mic" M's input)

What do you guys think of Live 4 Love?
(Album version and the boot if you've heard it.)

Yep, that groovier version is highly superior to the album version. I'd still edit Tony M. out on that one too.

I haven't heard any other version of this piece beside the album version. Some great guitar work by Prince there. The bass part just before the rap of Tony M is quite awesome too.

wow, it's been a while since i have listened to it. the cd version is in the category of songs like 'thunder' 'sacrifice of victor' and '2 chains o gold.' only live experience i have of it was on a dvd some where...

Anyone that loves the original has to check out the other version, it's awesome! Man I love D&P!

"Live4Love," is a fantastic song. I Love everything about it. Especially the way the song takes off in the beginning.

Nah, I much prefer the finished released version.

The early version is OK, but it's too subdued for the subject matter and the
original vocals sound too weak. It was much improved when the sound was
'toughened up' and the harder sounding vocal track was recorded. The original
mix was too laid back sounding.

i love the "mechanical" feel of the D&P version, the only one i've heard. gotta step my "boot game" up

Dont care too much for the released version (or the earlier demo recording). The live version on the end of the D&P video is fantastic particulary love the guitar solo's and the vamp at the end when you see Prince stomping his foot while grooving. Thats such a great performance.

I love it. I even liked the rap..It's not the best but I remember at the time I was so proud that Prince joined the era and was open to try out a little rap in his music. He is so versatile.
