The Beautiful Experience concert Feb. 1994

Just got the new release The Ultimate Beautiful Experience (or TUBE biggrin ) by 4DaFunk. So far an amazing release - excellent, full clear sound. One disk is the Paisley Park concert and the other is the Beautiful Experience film (soundtrack if you will).
Finally, on the concert, "the Jam" is not edited to remove Morris Hayes' solo ("...on organ, he's a funky man...") at the beginning. I think this is the first audio version of this show I have gotten that does not have the Jam in edited form.
Wonder why they ever edited it in the first place? The part with Morris' solo is in the film. I find it odd that an audio boot would be professionally edited to remove his solo part.
Anyone shed some light on this?

I've never had a version w/ that edited. Weird.

Could be a timing issue. Remember that 10 years ago or so when that stuff started coming out (if not before), CDs only held 74 minutes of music, not 80, so things were edited for that reason. Hell, "DMSR" was removed from early copies of 1999 because of that.

But doesn't matter now...you have it in full.

Compare "the Jam" from the Feb 13 concert on this CD to that on the previously circulating boots, namely Love Simple's Interactive Night and R U Xperienced. This new one has Morris's solo part and the others (strangely) do not.

The artwork explains where the Morris solo was sourced from on this release. The long and short of it is that the radio broadcast did not have the solo (speculation is that a commercial or bumper music ran over it and the bootleggers edited it out). The television broadcast had the solo, but was of lesser sound quality overall when the first boots appeared, so the radio source was used.

These folks put together a solid set that really needed to be reworked. It's a wonderful release - and it's free.

I just downloaded it. I will be listening shortly. I love this show. It's one of Prince's richest periods.

I'm brain farting, and forgetting who "I Believe In You" belongs to.

Guess it would have helped if I read the liner notes neutral Thanks squirrel. Still, the answer to why Marris's solo had been edited out is "no known reason"

Ernest, "I Believe in You" is Larry G's. I know, I know, it's traumatic...perhaps as they say in psychological circles, you have "blocked it out" wink

I actually don't mind Larry Graham's music. Graham Central Station was funky as hell, and I own many of their albums.
