I can't play any songs on it all the way through anymore. Not a single one. I haven't attempted playing any in a very long time, so maybe I should try now. It's got really brilliant parts in it, but the songs are just so long and so boring...and Darth Vader telling the story is a turnoff. Come over to mine - I'll tie you down, and slip in the disc. and to think I thought foreplay was going to involve me begging for an hour for some nookie.

You know damn well Prince reciting the Lord's prayer in 1981, or even something like "Anna Stesia" is miles above and lot different than that JW dogma on TRC. It's night and day.

You know damn well Prince reciting the Lord's prayer in 1981, or even something like "Anna Stesia" is miles above and lot different than that JW dogma on TRC. It's night and day. All faith is based on some type of dogma .....night and day is how you view things and has nothing to do with the type of faith you study or level at which he understands the text written hence his early work shows an early understanding of faith in his music, the working out of what things mean and the context the late forms of faith in his music is much deeper and draws on life and what he's seen. an example of this is George Michael's use of faith over the years...it's much deeper now than when he was younger ... no ones calling him a wacko ...is it because we know he smokes weed and takes pills to relax, so it makes him still "rock n star like"..no People tend to forget just how many places and people Prince has met and lost over the years in his travels ...his life has been a mix bag of highs and lows ... he's human so this of course is played out in his music as he get's older.... TRC is a great CD as you can see him playing with these themes and ideas through Music... Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! Many times I have sat around with friends of various and mixed ethnicities and rocked this album and I think the only debating we ever got into was which song sounded the most fucking awesome. The most talked about quality of the album for me and mine has always been about how wonderfully organic everything sounds. It was like a sea change in the types of tones he was working with and I was totally into it. I like super-warm analogue-y tones and that album serves them up song after song.

TRC is a great CD as you can see him playing with these themes and ideas through Music... I'm still not convinced that Prince is entirely "human". Prost! "Whatever skin we're in

Because if you read the thread, instead of just the original post, you can see that some opinions have changed about this "controversial" album over the years. And it's just over eight years old, having been released in November 2001. Ten years will be November 2011, well over a year and a half from now. Released is the operative word.

The old definition of insanity is to continue to do the same exact thing, but always expect a different result. When fams inevitably say after admitting time and again how they didn't like it, but kept after it because deep down they KNEW, if they tried hard enough, they would. ...and that's when you, as a fam, have finally gone off the deep end of Lake Minnetonka. The ones that crack me up the most usually preface it with ....."Im a musician so I know its good", ...STFU [Edited 2/20/10 6:43am]
