Related, but not. Remember, Glam Slam was in Mpls, LA, and Tokyo. I went to Glam Slam MPLS in 1993 or so. Maybe 1994 at the latest. It was fantastic. Just a few years later, I was living in MPLS, and went to see The Time (with special guest Terry Lewis on bass that night), but the club had since been changed to The Quest. This was an advert flier that was circulating at the time. I still have it, but I don't think I have my ticket. It was a great night. Some chick kept calling out "SING THE BIRD" and Morris was like "Yeah yeah, we'll get to that."
I had only been in Minneapolis since March 15. I was doing my best to get out and see things. This was the first foray into night life. That summer I ended up seeing Greazy Meal (with Tommy Barbarella on keys) at First Avenue. First time for that club inside, and I was just .....it was great.

The Japan one was actually in Yokahama. Not sure where that is in regards to Tokyo. Never been there myself. The club in Japan is in one of the videos off the 3 Chains of Gold movie. Can't recall at the moment which one though...anyone??? [Edited 2/15/10 12:54pm] TRUE BLUE

ard it was great plus Carmen Electra was dancin in Erotic City It wasnt anything too too great. It was Verigo beofre Prince took it over. Saw him there for Act 1 preview and yeah I was there when Carmen did her one song "Get On Up" at some BET benefit. Jaimie Foxx was always arriving as we were leaving.

Was there one in Miami? I thought the Mlps one was very cool. Whatever happened to Gilbert Davison (owned GS)? Are Prince and him still cool?

I went to Glam Slam one time. I think it must have been prior to its closing for good. I wish I'd gone sooner so I could be there when it was live.

He later changed the MPLS one into The Quest. Not sure who owns that place now, but I doubt Gilbert does. If I recall, the clubs were always in Gilbert's name, never Prince's.

Yes there was one in the South Beach section of Miami. The Good Life video was shot there, among other things. Prince and Gilbert had a falling out in late summer 1994. All things "Prince" were taken out of the night club and promptly closed. All Paisley Park employees working in the building were told to vacate. It reopened as The Quest with no Prince involvement. Gilbert Davison was still owner on paper, as he had always been. Everyone new it was Prince's money that started the club in 1989, but was put in Gilbert's name, who was then President of Paisley Park Records. I'm not sure of the specific details of what really happened, but with the club in Gilbert's name there probably wasn't much Prince could do when Gilbert took it over. I don't know where Gilbert is now, but the Quest is no longer open and is now known as Epic. TRUE BLUE
