Almost every Hit & Run show was different. A fairly typical concert had the following setlist:
ATWIAD
Christopher Tracy's Parade
New Position
I Wonder U
Raspberry Beret
Alexa De Paris
Controversy
Mutiny
Dream Factory
How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?
Lady Cab Driver
Automatic
DMSR

Soft And Wet
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Head
Pop Life
Girls and Boys
Life Can Be So Nice
Purple Rain
Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On
Mountains
A Love Bizarre
America
Kiss

A brief portion of "Doggie" was played and sometimes sung as a brief intro to the medley of (excerpts from) three 1999 song, "Lady Cab Criver", "Automatic", and "DMSR". In addition to the above songs, "Love or Money" made at least one appearance in the set in the US. "Paisley Park" was dropped after the First Avenue concert, March 3rd. Beginning with Detroit, June 7th, Prince sometimes added an extended "Electric Man" portion to "Head". Chants from "Holly Rock" were occasionally added to "Controversy", "Mutiny", "A Love Bizarre" and "America". Apart from the early performances of "Raspberry Beret", which featured a full-length version, the song was shortened to include only a verse and the chorus. The encore segment, which started with "Purple Rain", did not always include "Mountains" and "America".

When Prince played New York, August 2nd and 3rd, the show had undergone several changes. "Delirious" was now played instead of "Alexa De Paris", while "When Doves Cry" replaced "The Dance Electric". "Sometimes It Snows In April" was added as an encore and "Do Me, Baby" was inserted as a breather between "Mutiny" and the 1999 medley. In addition, the "Dream Factory" chant in "Mutiny" was dropped. Instead, "Mutiny" included some lines from "Ice Cream Castles" and the "roof is on fire" chant from George Clinton's "Mix-Master Suite", from his 1986 album R&B Skeletons In The Closet.

The set underwent further changes on the European Tour. Prince dropped "Soft and Wet", replacing it with "17 Days" or "Love or Money" (less frequently than "17 Days"). "I Wanna Be Your Lover" was only played during the first concert in Europe, London August 12th, before being omitted for the rest of the tour, while "Mutiny" was replaced with "A Love Bizarre" after the first two concerts in Europe. Introduced in the set in Europe was "1999", which ended the main portion of the show. "Purple Rain" was used as the closing number. Prince sometimes added a song or two to the piano sit-down segment (which focused on "Under The Cherry Moon"); "Condition Of The Heart", "Little Red Corevette", "Paisley Park", "Do U Lie?", and "The Ladder". He would occasionally add a line from "Hey Good Lookin'", another track from Clinton's album, to "Head". The Rolling Stones' "Miss You", "Manic Monday", and the new "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" made one appearance each on the European tour.

Few set list changes were made for the subsequent Japanese tour, although "Love or Money" was played more often than "17 Days" and the piano sit-down was extended. A few lines from "Sign O The Times" was added to "Pop Life" during the September 6th concert in Osaka, while a brief excerpt from "Hot Thing" was incorporated into "Head" during the September 9th show in Yokohama.
