Do u ever take long breaks from Prince's music?

ive listened to him everyday since i bought the musicology album,I have worn out the MPLSOUND cd ,and i believe i know all the lyrics. Im thinking the longest i have gone without listening to him is for a week and that was because I couldnt take my cds with me during a vacation. So lately,i keep listening 2 my 2 new Michael jackson cds (This is it & Invincible). So whats the longest break u took from not listening to prince?

I've been listening to Prince sparingly for about a year or two. But then I hear a track like Adore (when I put my iPod on random) and it feels like the first time, which opens me up to diving back into his catalog. This happened last week after watching the opening of the Musicology tour in LA!

I listen to a Prince album a couple of times a week...I listen to other cd's as well as the radio. I Love Saturday Night's when Kiss FM, does a battle. Last Saturday it was Stevie Vs. Luther. I'm waiting on a Prince battle. cool

When am in Paris, not more than 2 days..When am holidays, depends on where I go:
If am in my island, always a CD follows me..
If I'm in a new country, first visit, Prince stays at home, and sometimes am so glad to hear him suddenly on the local radios...

I don't know the longest break, but I do take time away from it. Too much of anything isn't good per se, especially in music. There's always a need to grow and keep your ears cleaned out. Frankly, I can't listen to Prince for long periods, or anyone else either. It makes me appreciate anything better when I take a hard listen and come back to it at some point. Of course with over 24K songs, and keeping iTunes on shuffle, I get a little bit of anything all the time.

Absolutely. It's healthy. After all, Prince takes long breaks from Prince's music as well.

Actually, I started listening a lot less to him after I joined the org. After being exposed to a few fams, it made me take a look in the mirror at myself and I thought to myself...."Please tell me I was never like that". lol

Been on one since June 25, 2009.

Well that's a lie, I snuck in Lemon Crush about a month ago.

Mainly I'm waiting on a new album from Princey, and I hope it comes soon because somewhere along the line, I strayed from listening to Michael Jackson--as rememberence--to MARLON Jackson. lol Good music, but still.

And some how Debarge got mixed in, so go figure.

I took a 7 and a half year break between early 1997 and late 2004. The NPS album put me off him and Musicology got me hooked again.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Yes, I take long breaks from listening to Prince, probably on and off since 95". Like Alan Leeds says in the Purple Rain DVD, anything that Prince does can be intoxicating. So I have to take looooonnggg breaks from Prince, sometimes from a spiritual stand point he can be a bit much for the soul...that's why I suggest that ALL Prince fans/Fam listen to other types of music, it balances your musical pallet. Never for long and in this day and age, when "new Prince music" is so readily available, I can never be bored of Prince music. I guess if I was restricted to just the official albums and not b**tlegs as well biggrin then the story may be different. There are just too many gems around to become bored though!

I can take long breaks from actually listening to his albums, but his songs always pop up on shuffle.

Yes, always have always will..... Prince has always been to me a artist that produces a body of work you choose from ....as their is just so much stuff ....i always skip tracks based on my mood....

Prince has never been an album artist in my view as it's just a limited format and he has so many styles on a record each track is it's own body of work!

Thats why i find it hard to understand people to say his early 80's stuff was so good as alot of the tracks just don't stand up as album tracks but more singles that can be moved around the album/CD in any order.... biggrin
Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

I do take a break of a few days at a time. But if I go to the gym and take my IPOD I always end up listening to the long version of "America" or something like that. I like a lot of different artists but when its time to jam the dial always ends back up on him.

Sometimes 3 or 4 months. Then when I revisit it the songs sound new and fresh.
