4 Those Of U On Valium I was just thinking, this is from an early 1987 concert or
from a late 1986 one, right? I always thought it was just a bit of Prince humor, aimed toward the crowd. "And 4 those of U on valium, my name is *Prince*". Yet, I just saw this Morrisey interview book again at a friend's house and remembered the lame thing Morrisey used to say about Prince, calling him "Ponce" as if he did not know his real name. I don't know much about Morrisey [I don't even know how to spell his name for fcksake] but from what I read and heard he was a pretty depressed wanker. The kind that would take valium and brag about it. Therefor, Prince might have made that remark at the concert. If it was a UK gig, that would make it even more likely. So, voila. There you go. Another strung out, over the top analysis, of something Prince said almost 16 years ago. till the sun comes up [This message was edited Fri Jan 17 6:33:02 PST 2003 by IstenSzek] and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Prince started The Sign O' The Times preview concert in Minneapolis with the line "4 those of U On Valium". It's the same show that the NPGMC gave us the live version of Strange Relationship from.
So no it is very doubtful that he was referring to Morrisey.

I very much doubt Prince was referring to Morrissey. This High Court judge, however, was:

(Judge Weeks on Stephen Morrisey giving evidence in court.) ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

This is my fave show. I actually like it better than Small Club, just for the reason that it has the BEST version of Strange Relationship (way better than ONAL) and I love It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night with 6 mixed in. But every song has just incredible energy and Sheila's solo is great too.
It seems Prince was relaxed and having a good time. This is a show that I would have LOVED to be at.

That long intro of Strange is something unheard of after. Therefor one of my faves. And isn't it nice to hear It's Gonna Be without that irritating Owe-o Oho scanted in all the wrong places?

Was that the same date when he made such a stupid remark about his polkadot suit?
I have to dig for this concert. Why oh why isn't it in the download corner of the NPGmc? Must I draw comparisons again with the download options of Phish?

It seems Prince was relaxed and having a good time. This is a show that I would have LOVED to be at. This concert was the preview for the 'Sign O' The Times' tour. It wasn't ment to be a full on proper concert, just a gig to show people what new stuff they had and rehearse the songs. It really is a fantastic recording as they are having fun playing these songs.
