Gift?
We did some deals through middlemen. Only a very minimal part of the deals was almost directly with the (entourage) of the man. So why would I consider a gift when I paid the man? No, I only write letters to friends. Prince is a stranger. Why would I waste my time?

No. But I have been tempted to send him a cease and desist letter, just for the heck of it. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Has anyone mentioned sand dollars? Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Monday, April 01, 2002 Hello. My experience at the Easter Sunday Prince concert was completely humiliating. I have been a fan of Prince's for 24 years, seen many concerts, even danced on-stage with him at the Crown in Cincinnati. He's inspired me to become a songwriter myself - to date, I've written over 600 compositions, close to 50 about Prince. Who would've known I was in for a good cry on Sunday. My husband & I traveled 5 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh in a rainstorm to attend Sunday's concert. We couldn't afford 2 tickets, so my husband stayed in a motel why I attended Sunday's event alone. Little did I know I was hours away from be mistreated by none other than Prince himself. We arrived in Washington D.C. with a couple hours to spare; enough time for me to dye my hair purple underneath and finish sewing the costume I had been working on all week. We proceeded to the venue & my husband kissed me on the cheek & told me "have a good time, honey." Little did he know. So I proceed to the soundcheck. I'm shy, so I sat quietly in the back & saw no harm in placing one of my CD's on the stage. I thought hey, maybe he'll take a listen & see the next generation of what he's inspired. What a mistake. When Prince appeared on-stage he immediately picked up my CD & said "who's is this?" I said "mine, I'm Divinity" to which he rudely demanded "come & get it." I said "that's o.k., it's for you." Prince demanded "come & get it." I told him "no, you've embarrassed me enough already." He said "what's this about?" I proceeded to tell him I traveled 5 hours to get here & would like him to have a copy of my CD. To give him a frame of reference I told him, "I'm the one who wrote a 2nd verse to 'Crazy You.'" (o.k. the history. I was briefly signed at Oar Fin Records in Minneapolis. One of my favorite Prince songs is "Crazy You" an accoustic guitar song off his first album. I've listened to it over & over, & only having one verse I found the song to end too quickly for me. I thought wouldn't it be great if the song had a 2nd verse? So out of love & respect for Prince I chose to write a 2nd verse & I was told I had permission to record the song. I violated my contract at Oar Fin when another producer's original music was copied - so you see, I'm not into stealing intellectual property. In fact I added my own intellectual property to an existing work, thus making it a collaborative effort. Furthermore, when I dissolved the contract with Oar Fin, I called Paisley Park personally to tell them I was the one who wrote the 2nd verse to the song, asked them if they wanted a copy, and called Prince's attorney in N.Y. as directed. I gave Prince's attorney the infomation, he took down my personal info & told me he would call back if things were favorable. That was the end of that.) So, back to the story: To give him a frame of reference I told him, "I'm the one who wrote a 2nd verse to 'Crazy You.'" Prince said "did someone say you could do that?" I proceeded to tell him I had been a fan & why I did it. He repeated his question. I told him I called Paisley Park & his attorney & nothing ever became of it. Prince went on lecturing the crowd about the value of intellectual property & how Alicia Keys stole one of his songs. At one point another fam member yelled out to Prince, "hey man, she brought it to your house, no disrespect." To which he replied "would it have made a difference if Alicia Keys brought me my song in a catsuit?"(referring to my costume) Meanwhile, my addition to "Crazy You" is dead in the water. I never reproduced it, sold it - nada. It wasn't even on the CD I was trying to give him. As I said, I was using that comment to give Prince a frame of reference as to who I was in case he had heard it in the mix that - hey some girl called wanting permission to release a song - I wanted him to know I was her. What a dumb idea. Long story short, Prince assumed I had reproduced a copy of his song & profited off it, not true. But still he went off on me humiliating me publically in front of all the NPGMC members & mistreating me verbally. I yelled out "it's too bad you don't want to hear what you inspired." My CD was returned to me & I was told to be quiet or I would be forcefully removed & my ticket taken for me. Immediately I was hysterical crying which continued for 2 hours in which I was consoled by other fam members & employees at the Warner Theatre - thanks to the kind people in D.C. I stayed motionless in my seat crying & shaking, wimpering & sniffling with the security guard hovering over me waiting for any excuse to throw me out. What a rotten trip. Thanks a lot Prince. As for Prince, I & all the other fams present got to see why people say he's mean & difficult to get along with. The rotten twin was definitely on hand for Easter Sunday making me sorry I ever was a Prince fan, making me sorry I put forth so much effort. All night people were saying, oh, you're the girl Prince yelled at...great! Yeah, that's me - I'm the one Prince yelled at, I'm the one he misunderstood. Add me to the list of broken hearts. Most of all, practice what you preach - "love for one another" was not what I experienced & "one night alone with Prince" was definitely enough for me. www.divinitysse.com - the discography page of my website verifies the Prince collaboration song was never released. I am a songwriter myself; I know the value of intellectual property, I would not disrespect someone I've spent my life respecting...don't get it twisted. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yes, I have written to him, in the past have sent my letters to Paisley Park's address in Chanhassen,...
Now, I still write in notebooks or in my "email" address, but I keep the letters and poetries in the "draft" box.. Isn't it weird? I need to talk to Prince as to a friend, I can't explain, maybe due to a deep loneliness, or may be I "feel" he's as a friend... Never he has replied, We make our own way to heaven everyday

If Prince did, I'd throw his return letter in my Bible and keep it there. I would never attempt to sell a Prince letter. If Prince would think that of me...He's not my type. But, I think He is my type. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Doesn't accept gifts, trust me. I was at a Q/A he had at Oakland durign his soundcheck. Ppl brought him gifts to the stage, he said, 'Just so you know, that's gonna stay there, thank you, but i can't take it...so you should take it..... so you just gonna leave it?...okay.' Prince left and never touched it. Don't send him gifts, i guarantee you he never sees them. I did some kooky thing one time when near by Paisley Park....I had a CD entitled "Work out" which was a mix of a few Prince songs that would get me going....Guess I need something to hold a business card that I had Printed up which Had My tattoo symbol on it and All my contact info....I left it on the Box by the rear entrance of Paisley Park...Who knows what happenend to it.
I also left behind a jean jacket with a Jimi Hendrix pin at a Paisley Park Time...When I got home and realized it..I had hopes that a band member might have found it.

I do think the $77 thing comes closest to a gift.
I mean: the site was only really ready after a few weeks of fan comments. Also the T-shirts did not arrive. So it appears mr P was suggesting we already have significant inflation or maybe he was giving himself a bonus, but that word was gone out of vogue completely among the general public. (perhaps because of the debt cri$i$) There is no reason to get emotional about P, he's just being not so wise in some ways. But that is completely human, not contagious and utterly normal. My name is Christopher; I am 27 years old and I live in Montana, where I go 2 college 2 study French and Creative Writing. I was born and raised in Minnesota; I was three months premature at birth and suffered brain damage, which resulted in Cerebral Palsy. Because of this handicap, I must use a wheelchair. In spite of my disability, God has blessed me with a strong mind and a strong heart. I have admired U since the age of two, and U have had--and continue 2 have--a very profound and positive influence on my life. Your music elevates my soul and makes me feel truly free. It shows me the beauty and wonder of life, and the power of God’s love and guidance. It has allowed me 2 learn and 2 grow, and it has seen me through the very happiest and the very darkest of times. Words cannot express how blessed I feel 2 have U and your music as a part of my life... I have been 2 see U in concert twice: The first time was during the ONE NITE ALONE tour at the Seattle show in April, 2002. The second was this past December at 3121 in Las Vegas. Your live shows R simply amazing and I await the chance 2 see U again soon. It has always been my dream 2 meet U and 2 speak with U, even if just 4 a brief moment...I realize that this may never come 2 pass, just as I realize that this letter may never reach U.
