I just read page 1 of a post called "When did it all go wrong?.....did it all go wrong?", someone please help me with the author. I live with a daily struggle; Wishing that I could get exited about todays music vs wishing it was like it use to be. I got 2 kids & my oldest is reaching the age where she is paying attention to the scene. She is a big Rihanna (am I spelling it right?) fan. Over the last few years Ive given it my best starting with outcast/speakerbox-lovebelow to Rihanna/disterbia to lady gagga/anything as long as I can see ass. One thing I find is that when I hear people talk on this site reffering to "back in the day" they are reffering to the 80`s. For me it was 1993, I was 13 & got real deap into the symbol album. But there was more than just Prince back in my day to me. I was into MJ, gangster rap & anything that came from seattle. The fun kept going with the post grunge stuff like the crannberries & Bush. For me it all went downhill when things like brittney & destonys child came out. Ginuwine was awsom though. Pardon my spelling folks its late. Emo sounds like 20 or so bands with the same lead singer (wonders if this was just the 1st ever mention of emo on this site). Alot of hip hop sounds like alot of me me me me look @ my money look @ my fake fake fake glitter glitter glitter. Paris hilton is a good litmus for what is going on today. For the most part it is just obnoxctios (spelling). Im sure I could sit here the rest of the night & wa waaaah about why it aint no fun no mo. What is helping is that my kids wont listen to crap music, so far were having fun, But I wish they could have it like I did. Where are the MJ`s, where are the generational anthams, where are the cobains? There does seem to be a shift in the force when it comes to the conglomorants allowing super heros. Does the big companies fear that someone might get too big today?
