I want the REAL fans on the org to EDUCATE me OK so let's say that I really don't know alot about Prince. But I could truthfully say that I'm involved in his music & try to find out as much as I can about him on the org as possible. I'm interested in finding out the simple things about him. Not too simple (like he brushed his teeth last night, atleast I hope he did...) Anything that you felt really made a difference to you about Prince or inspired you to become a fan, or to become OBSESSED

Read DMSR - The First Decade from Per Nilsen. It's in bookstores, and can be ordered. It's very detailed, fun, introspective, and a great read. It's a good reference book for later on too. There are other good books with a read like Possessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince (which a lot of fans hate), and The Vault (which will cost you to find online). | |

Yep! Per Neilsen knows his shit 
I have the book Prince - A Documentary (also by Per Nilsen) and it has LOTS of info up till the symbol era. I think later editions of the book were titled The Vault but I'm not sure since I never got a copy.

I would say Prince's ability to produce many different types of GOOD music = versatility.
The number of instruments he plays. His attention to detail is amazing. His love for what he does is admirable. His longevity in the business = his life story. All of these areas and more... | |

Definitely and read Possessed by Alex Hahn, for a different and more revealing view. Prince a Pop life by Dave Hill is a great early biography (1989) and even Liz Jones Slave to the Rhythm (1997) is a great book from that period. Music wise, every album from Prince to Lovesexy is a must, along with selected albums up to Lotusflow3r. Try and listen to the albums in order of them being released, so you can hear how Prince's music evolved over time. PS You are going to need at least a few weeks for this experience. But make sure you read at least 3 books on him, to get a balanced view. . [Edited 2/9/10 22:57pm] So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch?
