Have I mentioned I could have been at the 4 Those Of U On Valium show, but had to work? My wife went. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I have the Revelations 2.1 DVD and The Work, but I'm much more into the live boots (especially those from the last 8 years), so I never bothered to get more updated sets. Those pretty much cover the outtakes and demos, though.
Anyway, these are some of my must-have live boots from throughout his career... City Lights - My first boot. Everyone knows this soundboard set. Dirty Mind New York - Remaster of the 1981 show from the City Lights set. The Homecoming - 1999 Tour soundboard including Vanity 6 and The Time opening sets. Purple Rush Volumes - Encompasses everything from the Purple Rain era. Birthday Parade - The classic Detroit Hit & Run show. Miles 2 Nowhere - New Year's Eve show with Miles Davis. Sign O' The Times Live - Nice set featuring soundboards from the era. Take The W Train - Funky Lovesexy aftershow. Thieves In The Temple - Diamonds & Pearls Tour soundboard. Shoreline '97 - Mainly for "Soul Sacrifice" with Santana. Xenophobia Vol. I & II - Excellent recordings from Celebration 2002. My Band's Tight - ONA aftershow soundboard/audience matrix mix. Melbourne Funk Invasion - For the sole reason that it includes the funkiest version of "All The Critics" that I've ever heard. Footsteps 2 Fillmore - Pre-Musicology Tour shows, excellent recordings and performances. London/Indigo aftershows - More varied and inspired than the main shows. The real must-have is the August 28th trio aftershow from Eye Records. Coachella - Includes my favorite performance of "Little Red Corvette". C3L.A.bration 2009 - The Conga Room show is another stunning rock-oriented trio show, this time with Michael B. and Sonny T. Montreux '09 - Highlights for me are "In A Large Room With No Light", "Spanish Castle Magic", and "Little Red Corvette". Both shows are pure class. Monaco - I had to include this for "Dreamer" alone. Also, Sabotage's Sound & Vision sets collect all the TV appearances and some other odds and ends. Finally, 4DaFunk's Playtime is a collection of live performances of unreleased songs for which a studio version isn't circulating or doesn't exist. I hope I wasn't supposed to name just one boot. I can't do that.

Yeah, I'd have to say that's a very strong start. After that, the Sign O The Times and Lovesexy rehearsals are a good fix, especially the SOTT when you can hear how the show changed (esp how he sped up "Beautiful Night" when he original was going to do it like the album). They're all soundboard. Any of the Hit N Run shows from 1986 are usually pretty good, and mostly soundboards as well. Camille, the original Crystal Ball and Dream Factory configurations are good. The Work is quite comprehensive and pretty much in order of when things were recorded, or at least sectioned by era. Each volume has 4 CDs to it, and I think there are 8 volumes. I still need 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9...although I think 9 is the NPGMC stuff. The Purple Rush series is nice. It's all the 80's stuff from 1983-1985, covering certian Purple Rain tours, rehearsals, - anything soundboard, including The Family rehearsal, and more. I still need 6, and anything after 7, if there is anything. I tend to gravitate toward soundboard recordings more than audience, but who doesn't? Going to have to dig out the Work now... I designed the cover for volume 9 many, many years ago Formally known as Mr_Nos on Housequake
Hate is such a strong word, I'm just disillusioned...

You're not the only one who has said that Small Club is overrated. I have heard other people say the same thing. Well, those people suck!

I have the top 20 titles as featured on SmallClub.Org (http://www.smallclub.org/) minus City Lights Stockholm '86 and you can't beat them to be fair.
Aside from what's already been listed including the recent shows in Monaco and France, 'Driving To Midnight Mess' is quite good as far as live stuff is concerned. It's a combination of the Freiheit and London aftershow gigs from '88. The London gig is particularly impressive but is unfortunately incomplete. It does however include the best cover of 'Just My Imagination' in my opinion. The ONA shows are also of an exceptional quality both in terms of sound clarity and performance. The Chicago, Balitimore and Paris shows spring to mind. If you're after rehearsals, the 1999 Tour Rehearsal boot is pretty good although the set list is nothing special. It does contain an awesome work out of 'DMSR' and 'Lady Cab Driver'. The birthday show and the rehearsal for it (widely circulated on a boot called Neon Rendezvous from '84 has also recently been given another going over and is now available. I made a thread about it I think. The sound quality has been improved and is thus an essential find. It includes the never before performed, 'Our Destiny' and 'Roadhouse Garden' plus other intense and thrilling performances of '17 Days', 'Erotic City' and 'Neon Rendezvous' dedicated to Sheila E. There's Joy In Expatriation.

Does anybody know "The Jam"?
It's an 86 studio recording of Prince and Wendy and Lisa. They jam a lot on it, hence the title and Prince tears his guitar to pieces. How about that Dirty mind era boot with "Billy's sunglasses" and "Vibrator" on it? Awesome. Haven't listened to those (any boots) in ages but these are great! - [Edited 3/1/10 11:45am]
