THIS is maybe my most strange thread ever, I am just looking back on Prince and his career, Prince - the issue: when he's telling lies versus to tell "the truth":

What is it with Prince, it seemed like he used to get a lot of fun and a kick out of telling lies,

1. Prince wasn't 17 when he began in showbusiness, but 19. He lied about his age. I guess it was a way of sounding more interesting, to achieve something in the media... wasn't it?

2. in the Purple Rain poem, there's a line about telling the truth vs. to tell lies: "I'll teach u 2 swim, I'll teach u 2 try, I'll teach u 2 laugh, but not 2 cry. I'll teach u 2 trust me when u think I lie, I'll teach u 2 love me until we die."... It's from a song I wrote. Do u believe that? U do? Well, I lied. I just made it up. Pretty good, huh. It's not nice 2 lie. I think we're on the right track. Shall I wash u 1st or shall u wash me?

3. The track on Parade: Do U Lie? now what is this song about...

4. in the mid 1990s, Prince was talking about "The Truth", like there actually is a higher thruth,

at first I thought he meant something like "Prince (himself) is a genius - this is the truth". Like he was bragging or something...

I was a bit confused....

5. then there was the album THE TRUTH:

Everybody's got a right 2 love
Everybody's got a right 2 lie
But the choice U make, it ain't no piece of cake
It ain't no motherfuckin' piece of pie

what was this about.

6. And finally the religious nonsense about The Truth, I am a non-religious person myself, I guess it was Larry Graham that made Prince into the JW's truth... = the bible is the truth or something...?



Now do you have more examples of Prince telling lies versus the truth.

Isn't it the truth that Prince enjoyed telling lies to the media - back then..?

The Truth is The Truth no matter how it's decribed.

When we lie, we can confess it. If we do, we are 4given. That's the truth.

isn't it strange (a paradox?) that Prince was telling lies - and in some way was manipulating the media back then, and now he's all about telling "the truth", whatever that is.. ?

I don't see any difference in his behavior in that respect.

Prince has always told his version of the truth, back then and now.
There's just as many examples of truth vs lies now as there was back in the day.

Well I'd hate to compare him to my cousin, but maybe it's...ok my cousin a gemini like him happens to lie. ALOT. Maybe it's just me but it could be his zodiac...dont wanna sound crazy

How about the fact he was telling everyone he was half black and Italian back in the day? He had a couple of black folks I know pretty pissed because he didn't want to admit his full "blackness" back when he was on top.

He later said he said it to have fun with the media (and they and a lot of white America ate that shit up too) because they talked about everything but the music, and it certainly didn't help the "real truth" when he intentionally casted a non-black as his mother in Purple Rain.
