I agree.

Prince has so many incredible albums and songs that I can never get bored of his work. I love everything and can listen to him non stop.

Other artists I can listen to the same way are George Michael and Duran Duran.

Prince is not the best of all time. The bigger point is that you don't have the brain power to look beyond Prince and realize all the other great music in the world. Hell, Prince ain't even that original. Maybe it's fear that keeps folks like yourself from listening to Earth, Wind & Fire, Commodores, James Brown, Santana, Sly & The Family Stone, and all the other acts Prince stole stuff from. If Prince is the best, then those groups I named are near-God-like since Prince is working from the trickle down of those guys.

What I find interesting is all the artist you mentioned I always considered my father's music. I learned of those artist from digging thru my father's stash in our old basement on the South Side of Chicago but I never considered those artist my music. True, the style of music P produces a lot of it is throw back to R&B, Funk, Soul and Rock back then. We have to give props to all the artist that came before Prince and [i]he[/] even gives props to the artist back in the day. When it comes to albums I listened to from beginning to end it's been Prince's music for me. I've never listened to any of the artist you mention from 1st track to end track. I give them props for paving the way of Soul music to Neo-Soul to Funk Rock.

Let's all agree on that, shall we.
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I don't know about P being the only artist I will listen to, but I will admit that lately he has been the one I go to when I've had a particularly stressful day... Not sure why when I didn't listen for years...but lately, he just picks me up and puts me in a totally different state of mind! wink

I think everybody on this site is entitled to their own opinion without someone being critical over music preference.Personally, I'm 20 years old and I listen to Prince's music all the time!I could be listening to shitty trash whore music til my ears bleed, but I prefer to listen to Real music by Real musicians! To say Prince is unoriginal is totally wrong! Prince talent is vastly underrated and vastly unappreciated by orgers who claim to be bona fide fans! Cut the man some slack, if you want to talk about an artist that was unoriginal talk about Micheal Jackson who copied James Brown along with Prince but gets all the praise in the world as "The King of Pop"! Or hell, talk about Madonna or that talentless bitch,Ke$ha with that stupid ass "Tik Tok" song thats fucking unoriginal for your ass!

plz dont bring mj here. ur talkin about a guy who could outsing anyone at the age of 10 confused

Ok, so you meant it's pretty lame if you never listen to another artist?
(did that for years...yes, sometimes you get bored with Prince smile but I always go back to him when I "need" it! And when I listen to the radio and hear GaGa....you know what I do wink )!!!!

Sorry for my reaction towards you but your replies just felt a bit disregarding...smile

I have a friend who is about 24 now I think maybe 25. He's a huge Madonna fan. In fact, he really does ONLY listen to Madonna. I can bring up anyone to him and he's clueless. I mentioned Prince, and he said, "Oh yeah, he's that guy who did 'Love Song' with Madonna." faint

He's one of the smartest guys I know, but he's so limited in his musical approach. I mean, to each his own, but shit.

Umm you say "to each his own" but you just finished personally insulting someone for their own personal taste. You insult her "brainpower" among other things. Why do you need to go after this person so personally? Makes it seem like you have an issue unrelated to her. Let her be. There's no "rules" of listening to music. Not everyone needs to be some well-rounded connoisseur of various types of music. If she likes only Prince - so be it. it's "prince.org" for christsakes - let her express herself freely about her love of ONLY prince music. If it bothers you so much, back away from your computer, go punch a wall, and move on -- but whatever you do, don't go after someone personally for an opinion as benign as hers.

Hopefully you're not as judgmental about others on other issues in real life as you are on this website on this issue.

Sorry Ernest, I did grow up listening to all of those groups and I have to say when its all said and done...Prince is the greatest. The other bands are/were great I'll admit, but they didn't do what Prince did.

What the fuck are you on? machinegun Who are you to dump on someone because they love P's music more than anything else. Let's be real a lot of artist do not offer the variety that P does with his music. My IPOD is crammed with P stuff and I can't think of any other artist that I like that has put out so much music with such a wide variety of styles.
