Well, there's always the chem trail and studying the bible with his gay friends crap. But lately, it's "we R the truth if the truth can B told" from Purple and Gold.
That's a lyric and not a quote, I know, but it's some of the stupidest shit I've ever heard come out of his mouth, so it's a slap-worthy thing, I think.

When talking to Sinbad about 'stauros', "Now...you can cut that how you want, but it's the truth." Well you arrogant fucker, no it's not the truth. His own words have turned on him when he said, "Someone lied about how someone died". Yeah, PRINCE lied.
His chem trails rant was just stupid. "Everyone in my neighborhood was suddenly angry." Yeah, bitch, they're POOR. Of course there's an underlying angst with that at times. If they were fighting....well it's not a new phenomenon in life. Cain killed Abel way back when, and there were no chemical trails.

"I've seen the future"
"We got tired of waiting for Sade to make a record." "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I agree. This always drove me nuts - Prince, you're talented and I respect you and your religious views, but don't tell me and 85%+ of the US population that what we believe religiously is a lie. Another quote of his that I hate was when he was on Tavis in '98, and he was adamant that he had "never sampled any other artist's music" and that he couldn't comprehend doing it. He says this, yet has songs like 7, Daddy Pop, Tick Tick Bang, and more that he has used samples in. I'm not opposed to him sampling, but hey, don't lie about it! [Edited 2/7/10 12:32pm] "GARSON! What was it that he said, and what is the truth? Take it - like Clarence said:
"I got a million of them - all different U know."

When that same majority imposes their "truths" on other folk, I see little foul on his part--even if his ideas are as moronic as those in the other facets.

What was it that he said, and what is the truth? He said that after him and Larry Graham, the two greatest Bible scholars in history apparently, looked up the root words of "cross", they found the word "stauros", which is "an upright stake or pole", so thereby Jesus was impaled on a stake, not hung on a cross as we know it to be. "Now, you can cut that however you want, but that's the truth," he spouted. The truth is that impaling criminals was a practice back then. There were different ways to put an offender on a stake to make them suffer and slowly die in the sun while being picked at by birds, and exposed to the elements. However, it's also true that the "t" shaped cross we know was used for a short period of time, and that just happened to be partly while Jesus was alive. If Prince and his pimp would study theology and history without the cultist umbrella of Jehovah's Witness, they'd know the truth.

Did he not also sample "Funky Drummer" on "My Name is Prince"? That was on the documentary mentioned here recently about sampling. I watched it on PBS (?), and "My Name is Prince" (I think) was brought up with that song. "7" has a different sample I believe. He also sampled the original drum fill, and credited it, for "La La (Means I Love You)" in his cover. And if he says he hasn't sampled other's music he's a liar anyway, because he's flat out stolen fills, ideas, rhythms, licks, etc from every funk/soul artist in the 60's and 70's.

If Prince and his pimp would study theology and history without the cultist umbrella of Jehovah's Witness, they'd know the truth. It is certainly not a new idea. To quote Alan Watts, from his 1968 book Myth And Ritual In Christianity: "It is obvious that the Wood or Tree of the Cross is of the highest mythological significance, and that its relation to the actual stauros (stake) upon which the historical Jesus was hung is relatively small. Many modern Christian historians think it most unlikely that Jesus was actually crucified upon a wooden cross of the type familiar in crucifixes, whether of the Latin, Greek, or Egyptian Tau-cross forms. It was more probably a simple stake, such that the actual symbol of the Cross was shaped according to mythological, rather than historical, considerations." "I don't like that man; I must get to know him better."

"Tick Tick Bang" lifts the drumbeat from "Little Miss Lover" by Jimi Hendrix with no credit. That stauros stuff was the worst... if you're dwelling on Jesus' method of execution, you're missing the point!

That stauros stuff was the worst... if you're dwelling on Jesus' method of execution, you're missing the point! Well, in fairness, you cannot copyright a drum pattern/rhythm. It's why that "Housequake" beat was all over songs after that (although Prince might have lifted it somewhere). The reverse pattern is just as popular. Someone could replay (not sample, but literally rePLAY) that SICK drum beat from "777-9311", and Prince couldn't do anything about it.

I don't believe in reincarnation, so the "knew each other in a different life, or were the same person" thing is nonsense to me. And I agree about WB. His "freedom" has made him a slave to mediocrity.

I think it's more about (and I've said this before), that Prince's music thrives when he's in some sort of conflict. Doesn't mean I want him languishing in mental or emotional pain. Yet when he's been in the midst of a turbulent relationship, he's written great songs. Some of his best material was during just a few short years in the 90's when he was waiting for his WB contract to end. Albums worth. Yet without any major conflict or antagonistic muse, his music is just BLAH.

In this interview, Prince says his favorite food is Mayte. In the liner notes for the album, it says his favorite food is stewardesses.
Using the "if A=B and B=C then A=C" method, Mayte was a stewardess at one point. Sorry Prince doesn't get to enjoy his favorite food anymore
