So the question would then be, is Prince afraid of homosexuals? Does he fear them like cats fear water? Is he skurr'd that someone is going to make a pass at him?

Think back to 1987 when Michael Jackson wanted him to duet on "Bad". His response? "Now the first line of that is, 'your butt is mine'. I ain't singin' that to you, and you sure ain't singing that to me." While the song was about machismo and grand standing (as was the video), Prince still saw anything near-homosexual as ....well, bad.

It seems that "Bambi" was more of an ode to get a girl, even if she was a lesbian. However, it also sort of fits the stereotypical idea of dumb straight men that says, "She just need a good dick in her, and she'll be cured of wanting the vag."

I think about the scene in the masterpiece Graffiti Bridge where Jerome was feeling up Morris, thinking it was the near-man Robin Power. They both wanted to throw up or pass out, yet is it really that bad? Guys would rather pat each other on the ass IN PUBLIC while WEARING LYRCA than accidentally touch each other's chest hair? Aaaaaawwwwwrighty then.

I'm not a black guy, nor do I claim to think like one. However, I do believe that there is a huge amount of prejudice in the black community against homosexuals. I can't imagine being a black gay guy and having that kind of angst coming at me, either indirectly or directly. (Of course we also know the amount of gay black guys in the community that are simply ignored or not acknowledge sexually by their straight peers.) Perhaps some of that prejudice has always been in Prince. It's difficult to say, but it's probably safe assumption that even Mr. Sexuality-Free- has something in his water that does not compute.

I don't want Prince to be gay. I don't think he is gay. I do think he's hypocritical for having an attitude, even secretly, that is negative toward gay people, yet he'll still call Wendy and Lisa to work on a song as recently as 2007, and ask them to perform with him just a year or two prior. Does he over look it because they're long time friends? How white of him, right?

It's no secret Prince is less accepting of anyone or anything different than his beliefs. No more open mind, open book, or empty room to fill up. Even as early as 1998, he was telling Sinbad's audience that "you can cut that how you want, but it's the truth" when talking about stauros (discussed currently on a different thread). I think homosexuality is part of that non-acceptance. Prince used to be political, not politically correct mind you. But now he's damn near racial and bald-faced prejudiced.

So is he homophobic? I don't think he's scared of queers, but he ain't gonna have them at this dinner table either. Oh, he reads the Bible with his gay friends? I bet he's trying to convince them they're wrong, like how he tried to switch Matt Fink over to being a JW, or how he told will.i.am or whoever that they were a slave to cursing and they didn't need to do that. He's like the Bill Cosby of music now, and we're all Eddie Murphy.

Morality is a personal thing, I agree but Prince can be just flat out wrong and some people here will overlook it.

this may be an indirect answer and sought of irrelevant but i stumble across this and thought it was interesting to share, it's prince telling a story about stevie wonder:
