Under the Covers with Prince !?! Since Prince has had this fasination with covers over the past decade I thought it would be cool if Prince shocked all fans by releasing his next studio album entitled Under the Covers with Prince. The album would include newly recorded covers of songs by artists that have influenced Prince throughout his carreer. Some songs could be full on rockers , while others could be studio acoustic versions (the truth).Prince could write the liner notes himself explaining the importance of each song. Here is what I think would be a cool set list :
1. A Whole Lotta Love 2. Sweet Thing 3. All Along a Watchtower 4. Everyday People 5. The Best of U 6. Creep 7. Crimson & Clover 8. Proud Mary 9. A Case of U 10.Love Rollercoaster 11.Strawberry Fields 12.One of Us 13.Hole Lotta Shakin Goin On 14.Like a Prayer 15.I'll be There 16.Super Freak 17.Higher Ground 18.Miss You 19.Gently while my guitar Weeps 20.Sex Machine As a matter of fact this would be a cool dvd / Unplugged episode. Come On ... [Edited 2/3/10 18:03pm]

I hope not. I respected the fact that he didn't record any covers prior to Emancipation. To me, it shows some desperation for a hit or crowd pleaser. And please stop performing the same live covers he has been doing for the last couple of years (is he tired of his own catalog?). Bury Play that Funky Music! I do have to say A Case of You was pure brilliance.

13: WHOLE. "Hole" is a whole other song; one we ain't touchin'.
And Prince's "fascination" with covers isn't new. He was covering folks at least as far back as 1983 when he did "A Case of U", one of the best known covers, at the First Avenue gig. In 1986, he covered "Miss You", and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" on the Hit N Run tour at times. The list goes on. So .....not really a new thing, per se. I don't remember covers on the earlier tours, but he could have done that. And remember in the 90's when he was shunning "Prince" material while he waited out his WB contract - he did shows of almost all covers, or all new material we'd never heard. The boot Hallowed B Thy Name is a great Gold era show that is all covers pretty much.
