Outtake featuring Tony M Hey Y'all
Was just watching the old Arsenio Hall performances from 1991. During the final song (Call the Law), Tony busts out these other lyrics that start with "Hmmm, well let me take u to the hood if I could". I remember hearing these words on a brief snippet of footage on the Diamonds and Pearls complation video, while Tony is being interviewed. Does anyone know the name of this track and whether it's circulating? [Edited 2/1/10 18:37pm] Take it - like Clarence said:

The performance you may be referring to is probably Call The Law from The Sacrifice Of Victor/Bagley's Warehouse film. There are two released studio versions of Call The Law. One is on Goldnigga and has the Tony M rap, the other was the b-side to the Money Don't Matter 2 Night CD-Single. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Are those 2 versions considerably different then? I always noticed Rosie's intro had been removed, but I assumed that was the only difference. ...course I never ever play the song, so that's probably why I've not noticed Erik blah blah blah

I haven't listened to them in a while either. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

That line is not in "Call the Law".

I know for a fact they're not the same as the intro 'oh yeah' is missing off the goldnigga version. Apart from this, are they the same? Anyone masochistic enough out there to listen to them side by side? I would but I, err... Don't want to. Erik blah blah blah

Apart from the 'oh yeah' they're exactly the same. And I looooove Goldnigga. In fact, I prefer that album to any new music released post '96/'97. Ooh baby! Stop the Prince Apologists ™

I wish there was an instrumental version of the abum as the NPG sound really fresh and powerful. Bless his little cotton socks, it's Tony M pissing all over it that ruins it for me. Wish there was some way to strip off his vocal. Erik blah blah blah

The part I'm referring to is in a live version of call the law from the arsenio hall show. There are some extra verses Tony throws in from a different song. The first line of this new bit is "hmmm well let me take u to the hood if I could", and there is a much smoother, almost studio-version sounding clip of the same lyrics in the d+p compilation, just before Tony starts talking about singing into a mop when he was a kid. I was wondering if anyone knew which outtake or unreleased song those words are from, they're not part of call the law, they were just interspersed into that song that one time. Let me get this straight, you're looking for MORE Tony M?

C'mon people! Sure, live on stage Tony M sounds like a primal scream-patient with a bullhorn, but on record he's fine.
Man, if only he had done the spoken bits on The Rainbow Children, I might even listen to it for a second time... Stop the Prince Apologists ™

I would love to help you out and I gave as much of an answer to your very vague original question that I could. If anyone knows more that what's already been said, hopefully they'll chime in. In regards to the Tony M ribbing, it's all just folks having some fun. Mose isn't exactly a high point in Prince's career as far as many orgers are concerned. As for myself, I can still dig the songs in which he is featured. I just find that most of the songs Tony M is on are not great songs to begin with. Some are killer, though. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Theres several nude tour shows that lyrics for it are featured in the "Baby I'm a Star" encore. Big Chick "Thats security. Ensuring thee"
