How are those controversial? They never really raised a lot of eyebrows when they were released.

I would think something like "Sexy MF", just for the lyrical content, was enough to raise a bit of huff n' fluff among people and the media.

Also, if songs like "Head" or "Sister" were released, those would have been controversial too, because 1) in 1981, they NEVER would have made it on radio in any fashion just for the language, and 2) the subject matter itself. "Darling Nikki" was controversial, and was one of the "Filthy Fifteen" songs that Tipper Gore and her merry band of housewives cited as their muse for starting the PMRC.

That's controversy, not singing about politics or Morris' drug habit, or even AIDS. SOTT got attention, but it wasn't like "Oh why is he saying THAT?"

I think he's depicting the realities of that decade. Not really controversial.
