This reminds me of when I nephew was 6.

He heard Little Red Corvette and thought it was really cool.
But the part where Prince says, "Girl you got an ass...." my
nephew went "ewwwww...." falloff

That very same day he saw a snippet of Michael Jackson on TV
dangling his purchased Aryan children out of the upper balcony
of his hotel room--it made quite a splash--and my nephew asked,
"Why is that woman doing that? Why does she look like that?"

I couldn't stop laughing. I said, "that's a man." at which
point I said, "not all men look like men." I really didn't
want to go into an exhaustive discussion of gender expectations
spawned from an MJ sighting. lol

Look at it as us educating the youth who are lost in the noise of 50 cent, Eminem, Timberlake and Beyonce.

I have three kids...my 15 year old boy laughs at Prince, my 7 year old girl thinks he's gross.

My 9 year old son is named Isaac. When my wife was @ 7 months pregnant we went and saw D'Angelo on his Voodoo tour...FANTASTIC! We sat there with our hands on her belly laughing our asses off as he kicked and jumped...hell, he was breakdancing!!!

Anyways...his favorite singers are Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Prince. He has a strange affinity for WAR (especially "Cisco Kid" and "The World Is A Ghetto"), The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac. I of course have contributed to all of this, but he's the only of my little ones who proudly chooses to borrow my Ipod and treats it like it's gold!

His favorite Prince album? Purple Rain
Song? Mountains

That's my man!!!!

OOOOKKKKAAYYY! I can top the kid story with my son who came home from college over break and found that--omg--Mom was back into Prince again after over 10 years! Guess what, he e-mailed that his new favorite song is "Go Crazy" and his roommates are totally into Prince now! How's that for a "kid" story! eek razz
