I realy wish Prince was on the Hope for Haiti record

This is a really good record with many of the best artists doing some nice songs. Prince could have done an amazing cover or original that would have been the highlight and gained him new young fans, not to mention help raise a ton of money. Too bad this opportunity was missed.

This is a pretty picture of Madonna. I watched about an hour of the telethon...I wish I would have seen the whole thing. It's very kind of everyone to do whatever they can. Even Just a Prayer of Compassion can help heal. cool

That's exactly what I don't want and why I'm glad he didn't do it. He's already selling out and putting bullshit tracks like "Mr. Goodnight", "Incense and Candles", etc. trying to appeal to today's crowd. I'd hate to see him water his albums with more bullshit like that trying to appeal to them.

Face it, he always thought of himself of being too special for participating in charity projects. Not a good side, definitely not.

Prince gaining new fans doesn't help Haiti at all. These artists are just attention-whoring. I'd love to see what Madonna donated vs. what she earned in royalties from the record.

You are confusing the word "best" with "popular".

That's why he released "4 The Tears In Your Eyes" on the We Are The World album. And released "S.S.T." for Katrina. Wasn't his cover of Jimi Hendrix' "Purple House" on that tribute CD for a benefit also? And he performed (for free I believe) at the Special Olympics.

Prince has no problem with charity; this simply wasn't a project he was involved with.

What if Prince did a solo piano version of "Free" or "4 the Tears" theres a million songs, he could have really killed it like RandR Hall of Fame performance.

Prince do charity projects, but not Industry charity projects. This type of albums are a publicity stunt, like the "We Are the world" fiasco, Do you know how much money went to Africa? none, the military keep it all, but QJ and friends love to grab about how they save Africa, real charity is modest.

we all know that prince is not like any other artist who does things just so he can look good. for all we know he donated money, but unlike the attention seeking whores some of these celebrities are, he did so in private!

The show earned over $58 million in donations just that day it aired. I'm sure much more from itunes sales. Say what you want about them trying to get attention, but that's some real money for the Red Cross to use for Haiti.

What the f...if he didn't participate to this show and the record? Some of those who take part of that kind of"big shows" are often promoting their own image first..What if Prince donates to Haiti but anonymously...

Whether or not Prince donated or not....I don't hate him for not being in this 'publicity-act' and why should he? To gain new fans? It should not be about that!!!!!

(btw do you know that The Netherlands had more gifts than the whole of America without famous singers????? Hahaha, true, a small country can be big!!!!)

We could sit here all day and argue about whether these artists are "attention-seeking whores" or not,but I think the important thing is that they donated their time, effort and talent to a worthy cause.Alot of money was raised to help the Haitian people. At the end of the day, that's all that should matter.

btw,Stevie Wonder particpated in this event. Are you seriously suggesting that he is an attention-seeking whore? rolleyes

Once again I ask: is Stevie Wonder an "attention-seeking whore"? What about Bruce Springsteen and Sting?

Madonna is one of the most famous women on the planet.I don't think she really needs any more publicity.

Just because Prince chose not to participate,is it really necessary to diss the artists who chose to? hmmm
