It took me some time to fully understand how to love Raspberry Beret (I used to regard it as the song that didn't fit on ATWIAD, - a good pop tune, but nothing special.) and I really dig it now and I know it belongs just where it is, but still only very few songs can touch Little Red Corvette, and Raspberry Beret is not among them.

You do know you're all wrong about LRC don't you? It's not that good. Even a little annoying in fact.

For me, the songs are so different (yet both so great) it's hard to choose.
Probably go with LRC, if I *had* to choose one.

I'd choose Little Red Corvette. Raspberry Beret is great, but Little Red Corvette is even better. Little Red Corvette is so well-crafted, I get hooked right at the beginning of the intro. It's one of the best songs Prince has ever made.

Raspberry Beret: one of his strongest melodious pop-songs (maybe even his best), the string quarted being the 'icing on the cake' within the arrangement.
Little Red Corvette is a very good song, but a bit overrated IMO. Its like his take on AOR, a bit predictable / cliched music-and lyricwise, while Raspberry Beret is more dinstinctive soundwise. [Edited 1/26/10 10:24am]

AOR = Adult Orientated Rock. Bands like Foreigner, Toto, Boston, REO Speedwagon. Often rather bland 'rock' music IMO.
That style was rather popular in the beginning of the eighties [Edited 1/26/10 10:48am]

The Toto and Boston being "bland" statement is part of another discussion, though. What exactly do you consider AOR music about Prince? I did know AOR means adult orientated rock, but I didn't think you really meant it, as I can't connect that term with Prince music at all. . [Edited 1/26/10 12:31pm]

I'd go with "Raspberry Beret" but both are essential pieces of music!

Raspberry Beret hands down! "I have so much love for Prince. But why don't they look at me that way"- MJ

I like the upbeat sound if Raspberry Beret, but I equally enjoy the bleakness of Little Red Corvette.
But which one is better? There's only one way to find out... FIGHT!!!! Love & kisses Harry Hill blah blah blah
