Appreciation: why I love Purple & Gold

I LOVE Purple & Gold for three simple reasons:

1) It's crazy. No-one would have predicted Prince would release anything like it. If you want nice songs by a predictable act, buy a Coldplay album.

2) Prince is a global artist. Releasing a local song about a football team shows that he has bigger cajones than anyone.

3) I have been singing it since first listen.

And if it had been a 1983 b-side, it would be considered a 'hidden gem' classic by now.

Love it!

Don't worry. It's not your fault. I blame the chemtrails.
The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Oh come on now! If Prince had released P&G in 1983, none of us would be here because I think that's where his career would have ended!

I can understand that you appreciate the man but let's not get carried away! hug
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I think it was some sort of brainwashing that occurred subliminally on the Rainbow Children CD...

Fortunately, I only listened to that thing once or twice or I would be saying crazy shit like that, too...

NONSENSE

what's not to like about it. The song is cool. Now if we could get Prince to rewrite our national anthem ... cool

Prince likes the Vikings and wanted to write a song for them. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

PASSIONFRUIT

CNN just had a story on Prince and the purple and gold song. Surprisingly, the reporters appeared to rather like the song. They seem to be fans.

shake Oh hell to the no! shake Judging from the piece of shit song that Prince wrote for the Vikings, he'd better not dare TOUCH our National Anthem. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. lol
