Someone who can record so fast, you would imagine a great song for the people who need it.

The Vikings are not top of anybody else's list at the moment.

biggrin U must not live in Minnesota. People here are wild over the Vikings excited woot!

I never could understand it really, but it's a passion for lots of sports fans here. eye even caught the fever and watching the game on tv for the first two times ever this year, ..... and Prince just happened to be there heart The burst of enthusiasm at those games moved Prince in a good way. People are loving that their home boy wrote a song for their home team.

Today people need all kinds of things all over. In addition to giving to charity, Prince gives things like hope, ideas, inspiration and the funkiest of music too! guitar headbang

Go Vikings Go!!!

Prince is probably like the rest of those Christian extremists who think Haiti got what they deserved because they practice voodoo.

Do not panic, the Red Cross are there, I do not think Mr Prince has the stomach for scooping up guts and suchlike. I am delighted that he has opted to support him football team instead.

I remember back when hurricane Katrina happened, Tom Joyner was a part of a charity for the people who suffered from that. One day Tom announced they received an anonymous donation from Minnesota I believe within the millions. Tom hinted who it was from with references to Prince. I thought it was classy making the donation anonymously because it showed it came from the heart. So I believe he's probably done the same for Haiti. I don't think people realise Prince gives alot and just doesn't have it advertised. Which to me looks better than someone who gives and brags about it.

celeberities publically donate money to seem caring and to be in the public eye. and of course charity donations are tax deductible.

i for one, am glad prince is above that level!

i give money occasionally to good causes, but i don't put it on my facebook. because it is not something that needs to be braged about.

oh and prince in the telethon - it would be the worse PR ever. people would think he was just showing off (where we all know that is just prince), remember the george harrison induction.

Does someone here know for a fact that Prince didn't do anything for Haiti? Since when has he ever had his donations advertised?
He doesn't take part in a show? So? If you remember he didn't sing "We are the World".

He's a lone wolf, he does not mingle with the pack.

And what has this got to do with his fight song?

What have you done for Haiti?

I agree totally. And this is a "fight song" and not a song to be played on the radio or your ipod. I know we are are all ready to hear new music from Prince, but this is not the song. Sometimes I wonder where the website the real prince fans are hanging out.

Those people that do those telethons get on my nerves because they simply want to be seen and want to be considered doing the "in" thing. I don't know if Prince sent any money in private, nor is it my business, but I'm glad to see he wasn't "trying to be noticed" on a telethon like so many other artists do.

Exactly. It's great to raise a lot of money, but when it's done like that, who knows how it's going to be handled or used? And why do some people have to wait to be entertained to donate to those in need?

It's like the explosion of texting your donation, which will take MONTHS for the funds to get anywhere. Add to the fact the phone companies are making money from the fees, wonder if they'll donate that windfall too?

Haiti Telethon sees great musicians like Stevie Wonder help out and answer phones and perform....

At the same time Prince releases possibly his worst ever song for a football team?

Am I the only fan running out of excuses?

You are so incredibly out of touch..

Every second of every day people are suffering and dying; right here in the U.S.A. even. When should people enjoy their life? How long is the "shiva" for every misfortune in the world.

The Vikings are a big, bid deal for people like me, from Minnesota.

Prince does plenty for charity and does not feel the need to publicize it.

People need to have joy from their lives and it's not dictated by a perfect world; because the freaking world is NEVER perfect.

Those bullshit telethon people; you think those celebrities are holy because they're on TV answering a phone?

The world isn't Haiti Vs.Every Other Thing Out There.

Gooo Vikings!

And "Purple and Gold" kicks ass!

P doesn't need anyone to make excuses for him. What are YOU do to help out with the crisis in Haiti? Running a fundraising campaign, flying down to help out, manning phones trying to get others to?! Why don't you stop throwing stones and focus on what YOU CAN DO and not worry so much about what Prince is doing? confused

When I logged on to Prince.org and read the headline "Prince records new song for..." I automatically thought it was going to be Haiti and was a bit baffled that he'd decided to do a song for a football team at such a time.

Not that he has more responsibility to help out than you or I, but it is definately a strange move.

He can't do EVERYTHING all the time.

What I mean is, he did a song for Katrina (SST). He did a fundraiser for the flood victims in Princeville, NC (if any of you remember that). He doesn't and shouldn't HAVE to do something every time a tragedy happens (and tragedies happen all the time.)

As far as releasing his fight song on the same day other artists were doing a benefit for Haiti...

He wasn't trying to compete with those artist nor was he trying to undermine the tragedy. He was writing a fight song for a football team on their way to the Superbowl. If he was going to do it, he had to do it when he did and not procrastinate. It wasn't his fault there was an earthquake. The Superbowl isn't going to wait a few weeks for the aftermath of the earthquake to pass so that Prince can write a fight song and not be blamed for competing with the earthquake.

What I mean is, earthquake or no earthquake, Prince probably would have still released that fight song at the same time.

On another note, would it be fucked up if Prince did play at the benefit and performed "Housequake"?

um S.S.T was not the greatest either and how dod you know he didn't write a check ... not every good deed needs to be plastered across the headlines, In Prince's defense he does his part to give back, October 24th The donations were overflowing ! even in these hard times.
