I know they have no control as far as Prince's image. They must be absolutely
mum when it comes to speaking about various aspects of Prince. And that's
understandable.

But as far as control over their own image, do they have any control or input?

Lisa and Wendy have mentioned that they have an "OMG, what were we thinking?" attitude
towards viewing their older 'Purple Rain' era images; however, they don't
really attribute this to Prince. It seems as if they largely opted for the look
themselves, and though Prince may have been influential it doesn't appear
that he controlled them in that aspect.


However, the New Power Generation matched outfits with Prince. They matched
outfits with musical numbers.

Tony M. even wore one of those "rape me in prison" swimsuits :



And the outfits during the lovesexy era all matched too. Do the band members
get to pick and chose the direction of their look, or is it all Prince's doing?

It's like Prince is taking a very Bowie-esch approach to showmanship which
includes his band.

I don't know now but Prince had some input on what pass band members wear, he wanted clones of himself

Hmmm... I think it's pretty obvious that if you're asked to be in Prince's band, then it kind of comes with the territory that you'd be expected to be part of the "image". Wendy and Lisa's "what were we thinking?!" comment was more about the fashion of the times than Prince's "control".
