No. But it could work a little better with a chorus of baritone voices instead of the cartoonish female voice in the background. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

As a citizen of Packer country, I gotta say how I love what Prince did for the ViQueens.
That has got to be embarrassing as hell for you Minnesota folks. Nice faggy fight song he wrote for you.

Seriously.... Where was Prince a few years ago when the Vikings were horrible and needed hope. He comes waltzing in now when it's all hunky dory and gives them a up lifting song to help them. Where was his fandom when the Vikings were having just no hope seasons. It's easy now to jump on it and say go team go hometeam! When they are winning. You need to support your team even when they are not! Winning. This proves Prince yet again. How shallow and fickle he is. Same reason he went to the Elton John Oscar Party. He follow the hype. So if Prince is on the Vikings hard! Now! It's not! Because he loves the shit out of them. But because they had a winning record this year! And if the Vikings lose on Sunday it's all gonna be over. Now if Vikings go to the Super Bowl on Sunday! They will hype the shit out of it.

Prince is a freaking genius. Okay, the song is crap. True enough. But Prince is the number 5 most searched thing on Yahoo right now. And there are articles on CBS.com, ESPN.com, Billboard.Com, etc. Various Vikings are singing his praises. My local sports talk show spent a good 40 minutes discussing the song today. Prince has somehow got himself back on the cultural radar just by writing a freaking syrupy fight song. That, ladies and gentlemen, is brilliant. Prince has got to know in his heart of hearts that this song is not the second coming of "Purple Rain". But at various times in his career he has known exactly the right moment to reappear and exactly the way to do it. That is why most of us are still here. You just never know what the dude is going to do next. So true...so true...brilliant. The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Well it has to be said. It's not that great a song. I thought it would have been a bit rock orientated. Maybe an upbeat song that the Vikings could run out to. Sadly its not. It seems more like a hymn.

She's getting her 15 seconds of fame and then her vid will be dumped to the bottom of all the other youtube home videos. I think when Prince's new "anthem" is sung in unison by the Vikings football crowd, it will be just fine. After all, there's over 29,000 views on this thread, so whether folks like it or not, it sure has them talking about it. [Edited 1/22/10 18:35pm]

I think not. Just like he didn't give a shit when websites protested -- you remember, when he recorded that overrated crap "p-funk"? Oh, and have you listened to his latest album? What do you think "No More Candy 4 U" is about? Your pretty boring in your fanatic bashing of the man. You're captain Ahab and Prince is your Moby Dick. Maybe indeed a dick but still more interesting and at least not as predictable as you. I forgot .. who died in the end? And o yeah, get a life .. at least Moby Dick still has one.

That these same stations won't play new/current songs from his last cds released (3121 and Lotusflow3r), but will play his classics instead, Yet look how quickly they wasted no time playing the snippet to this new song for the Vikings just to make fun of it. Would be nice if they jumped that quick to play his recently, released cds.Interesting. Uh... no. They don't play the new music because it's simply not good. They do play train wrecks like this. That's your opinion. Many stations here in NYC play his classic stuff on a constant basis. Everytime I walk into a store and some other place where there is a radio on, I hear one of his songs. My point is, these same stations may not play much of his new stuff, but they sure suddenly found time in their day to get hold of this tribute to the Vikings to bash it. So if they could find time to do that, they could play his current music.

So perhaps Prince has recorded something that is just as shit as a whole genre of shit music -- why the fuck is he wasting time on this in the first place? How come he avoided doing this crap for decades and yet now feels the need to make his contribution? It's SHIT. Just like all the other songs in this genre. (Just like Emancipation was a bunch of shit, because so much of it is sub-par R Kelly-like dirge -- and R Kelly is shit.) Funny how the people who profess to like it are also quick to point out that it could be better by adding a guitar solo. Or different production. Or different instruments. Or maybe this or maybe that. I thought R Kelly was pee? Your sig

shygirl Agreed and well said. Great to see sense is still here. Not much point in trying to explain to these fox news type though, it's not fun to make sense. It's fun to be malicious, ignorant and selfish! It's fun to attack someone who sits high. Gotta admit though, it's something to watch the hypocrisy and stupidity. What's funny is all this 'it's a fight song, you don't get it!' talk. Does a piece of music being a fight song negate the requirement for it to be an enjoyable listening experience? I don't understand the difficulty in seeing that after many of the people here listen to this piece of music they come to the conclusion that it is an awful song that they don't enjoy listening to. I a Minnesota Vikings fan! The song works for what Prince intended it to be "a fight song" this is what fight songs are about...how it was sung is how fight songs are!!
What I'm finding is that most people don't know what a fight song is...let alone how to sang one! Prince if the Vikings like it, I love it and we'll march this mutha' all the way to the Super Bowl. V in Vikings stands for Victorious! GODnight to all...and to all a good night! sang with me..."we come in the name of the purple and gold all of the odds r in r favor no prediction 2 bold we r the truth if the truth can b told long reign the purple and gold" Saints here we come!!!! Godnight to all...and to all a good night! “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”

Excerpt from today's press conference with Brett Favre:
What's it like to be in the same company of Apollonia and Vanity, now that you're one of Prince's muses? "You know it just doesn't seem right. You know a lot of the guys on this team, I don't think even know who Apollonia and Vanity are. They obviously know who Prince is, and if you saw my rendition of 'Pants on the Ground,' I don't think I have a shot. I don't think he'll be calling anytime soon." You moved him. "I'm sure I did. I'm sure I did. I don't know if it was in a positive way. At least as far as my career goes. I better stick to this job."
