PRINCE ON OPRAH, TAVIS, GMA OR JAY LENO Which interviews did you find Prince to be the most comfortable and open?
I'd say his Oprah appearance was the most difficult for him and he does not come off relaxed but very guarded. It was something he had to do to maintain a positive image among the drama with his label and the gossip about his child. With Tavis he's pretty relaxed because Tavis poses no journalistic threat whatsoever. No uninvited questions, no studio audience, no surprises, and no bad lighting. GMA is a bore and a chore. Total opposite of Tavis' set up. I think he was musically comfortable on Jay and considers Jay a friend but for interview purposes it's too open for him and again he comes off as a bit guarded. He doesn't talk about anything personal or show any emotion, except when he gave Mel Gibson kudos for passion of the Christ. Whatcha think?

I agree--except that I think the Oprah interview set him on guard with her suprisingly ackward comments and questions. Tavis pretty much has a relaxed style and I thought P was less on guard with him, why he keeps coming back. If I were Prince giving an interview, I would be more uptight and closed off than he is...considering past media relations...

You were "Dead on it" with this, there's nothing that could be added. I liked him on Larry King Live too. Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I left larry off...sorry folk. Larry is pretty good at making people feel comfortable. His F2F style is a smart move. You can't get away from an eye to eye conversation across a small table. Notice how Princey doesn't appear small on LK?

Yeah, he did an interview w/Chris Rock in like '96 or '97. He came across as being very upfront and honest in his answers. And it is so cute to watch how utterly ga-ga Chris is for Prince. You can tell CR has a lot of respect for Prince. [Edited 1/20/10 0:57am] I love music

ELLEN!
His reaction to a set filled with women is always priceless. & The humor is always on target ![]() "Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

I loved it...it was great! I mean, yeah Prince was being immature and outrageous, but it was hilarious!!! Especially the ending... "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens
