Love this song....to edit it would be a travesty....the quirkiness of it is what makes it work....bizarre...too long intro...and the excellent ending all the parts in between...it is an original Prince soundscape....let it be what it is! 'Love will be your Soldier' - Nikka Costa

For whoever asked, I'm pretty sure the intro was inspired by German composer Roedelius - in fact, I heard the original piece a couple of years and the resemblance almost verges on plagiarism. That aside, the song is pure perfection. One of my all time faves!

Interesting. I have to look into this. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Here's an interesting take on Condition Of The Heart by Susanna & The Magical Orchestra (about 45:20 into the podcast): http://apneia.libsyn.com/...id=129255#

The intro is wonderful. The same goes for the keyboard doodling on the Lovesexy album.
May I ask do you people who dislike the intro listen to anything else than music that is done in the pop song format?

help,
I am going to ask a stupid question, especially when this is one of my favorite albums, but here it goes. Did he meet the lady from the ghetto that made funny faces first and then later on met the women he is smitten with? or Was he smitten with the woman who made funny faces just like Clara Bow, and then later after, when she was no longer around, was reminded of his crush by a lady from the ghetto ? This has bugged me for a while, honestly! There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Why do we have two threads about the same song? I kinda hate when that happens. I am being selfish here as well. I posted a question that I wanted answered, or hoped would be answered, kept waiting for someone else to get on this thread, but NO INSTEAD we start a whole brand spanking new thread about the very same song.

Funny, I had always thought that the beginnings of Prince's Crystal Ball and Roedelius' Regenmacher were quite similar. ..sharmone MF..!

U microwave all your food? Naw you can't be in a rush, with this song or album, you gotta either put on some headphones and just kick pack with desert or sit in a room with surround sound medium lit and just let the sounds was over you ATWIAD is intrically connected to Purple Rain (not)Parade. PR moves swiftly like a fast moving river ATWIAD moves like a stream
