High is what Rave should have been

Rave was meant to be a return to the pop charts, but flopped spectacularly - I personally think it's his weakest album.

I never liked much of the NPGMC Year 1 stuff, but listening to the High tracks together makes me think it could have fared much better than Rave did.

Yeah I'm not saying High was brilliant, it was just the most individual bunch of tracks within that plastic sound era from NPS to Rave.

The Plastic Sound Era..i love that one! Half of Rave is pretty darn good.

Rave
The Greatest Romance
Tangerine
So Far So Pleased
The Sun, Moon and Stars
Strange But True
Man O War

These are all great songs, the rest werent bad either. It just don't hang together as a whole. Supercute and When I Lay My Hands On You are the only two really strong songs on the "high" album. Neither are really a gripping listen though.

Am I the only FAM who digs Rave (not all da joints), but it was a good album, gus it wasn't funky enuff 4 most folks. High the track itself , I cannot stand! The trax I love are 'The Daisy Chain' and 'Golden Parachute' from the High album set.Rave wasn't Prince's best offering and it is by far not his worst.
