Love Sign was actually released though, on the 1-800-New-Funk compilation. He pefromed it on the Today Show and it had a video directed by Ice Cube. I think it got all the shot at the charts it deserved.

You mean the single wasn't released commercially? That may be, but the topic here (which you defined yourself!) is "unreleased songs", therefore Love Sign doesn't fit.

basically, most of the songs that were on the famous ''yellow'' boot could have been hits. Most of them have been listed here already. The absolute highlight is '' I wonder'' which is one of the catchiest songs Prince has ever written.

Also, I think Love Thy Will Be Don would have been a bigger hit had he released it himself.

The songs that Prince wrote for the styles of other artist that turn out to be hits still have that Prince signature on them. You can hear a Prince song for another artist a mile away. But think of the songs like Open Book, The Sex Of It, Get Blue and the new jack swing song Don't Say U Love Me he gave to Martika, in the 90's, it was straight forward R&B that would have killed the radio in those days.

Granted some songs should stay locked up but there are so many that he needs to revisit and let them be free. He wanted freedom, right, so why won't he let his songs be free!

"Neon Telephone."

It's one of his best unreleased songs.

I totally agree with Erotic City. If he released it today it would be such a huge smash on the radio. He was so ahead of his time music wise smile

17 Days as an A-side would have been huge. I guess it was technically released so that might not count. Other than that, Extra Loveable would have been big too.

Wrong. It may not have gotten the push of a Warners release, but it was distributed to stores by Bellmark (they also did The Most Beautiful Girl In The World single), in July of 1994.

Pussy Control (allthough released on album) would have been a bonafide hit too IMO.

"Last heart" and "1000 hugs and kisses" - kind of radiofriendly song I guess.
