PrintableI've got to agree that a band could have completely altered (in a good way) the entire album. I've listened to disc 2 constantly, I think I'll re-evaluate the whole set. I never was a fan of JOTY for some reason. | |

Most of the songs are strong, or at least very very good, in composition...it was the production is where the album, overall, suffered a bit.
To me the drum programming is the most dated sound on the album but does not affect the SONGS for me, which is why I still love Emancipation. I think this is obvious when Emancipation's tracks are heard live in concert (with a live drum kit, and more) - great songs. | |

Some songs sound more dated than others but as a whole it's pretty damn good album. Who comes out w/ 3 cd sets of new material? Chili Peppers did a double cd set, Outkast did a double set but they each pretty much did their own thing. The fact that it was 3 cds was pretty impressive to me & the fact that they were an hour long each. There aren't too many artists doing this these days. The Black Crowes recently released a 2 cd set & wow is it something, but few artists are capable of this. |
