I'm pretty sure some of you are already aware of this, but those limited edition Japanese SHM titles (For You through Lovesexy) are already out of print. I ordered the ten titles from CDJapan and they weren't able to come up with Purple Rain, SOTT or Lovesexy. Tried to get the 3 out of stock titles through YesAsia, out of stock/out of print. Was able to get the other 3 titles from a reputable seller on ebay.

Just thought I'd pass this on to those that were considering purchasing these but didn't want to pay the soon to be obscene "OOP" prices on ebay once stock runs out of the other 7 titles, or ebay sellers realize they can start charging whatever they want.

Try amazon.com. They have several sellers (importcds usually has better prices) that have them available.

Keep in mind that many sellers (including YesAsia) don't place an order for them until they have received an order for them and charged your credit card -- meaning that while they say they have it "in stock," you won't actually know until you place the order. With YesAsia, my card was charged and refunded about 2 weeks later.

There were two versions of "Purple Rain" released on SHM. One in January 2009, the next in July of 2009 with the other 9 titles.

I personally believe the cheapest way to get the ones no longer available at CD Japan are on ebay through sellers with high feedback ratings before the prices go up. Otherwise, you're paying nearly double already on Amazon for the July 2009 SHM releases than what's available on ebay.

Looking up the 3 titles that were no longer available at CD Japan on Amazon, I'm not buying from a private seller on Amazon that has 25 lifetime ratings and is selling them for double than what they were selling at CD Japan.

Which is why I made this post. 3 titles are already almost double the cost. Once sellers on Amazon and ebay realize this, the prices will skyrocket for the other 7 as well.

As for the snarky comment asking whether "limited editions" are limited or not, those that collect music (not just Prince) know that often things are called "limited" just to get people to buy them, and then end up in bargain bins for $5. I'm curious how many of each of these were actually printed.

So are these Out of print SHM CDs gonna be worth a lot?

Must remain strong and not buy these CDs I do not need but want so bad.

SHM simply offers increased loudness. I have japanese pressings of all the Prince albums and the difference between thema nd the regualr US domestic pressings is worth the higher price. I have Purple Rain on SHM and it is no better than the orgingal japanese pressing sonically.

Dont play yourself and pay $25 or more for albums you already own.

I guess replicas are useful if you dont have the original vinyl records that were purchased when the albums were released. I just pull out my record for the original liner notes, dust sleeve photos, and posters. Personally, I simply found a site to download them all for nothing and saved my money for the real domestically produced remasters that will be released inthe US one day for a more reasonable price.
