Prince's Hiar During 1999/Purple Rain Eras Hey Everyone!
I am really curious about Prince's hair from around 1982-1985. I know that it was this big sexy, curly mass on top of his head. Was that really Prince's own natural hair or was it extensions? Either way, it was a hot look and I wish that look would coem back on straight men. But I would like to know! Thank you! I love a Man who:

Yeah that was his real hair and it was his real hair during Grafitti Bridge era too. Prince never used extensions. He has good, thick hair and he not going bald! Prince's hair dresser for many years Earl Jones, Jill Jones uncle, used to primp Prince's do up into the early 90's. He has since passed away. Earl was Prince's best hair dresser. You could see the change in the mid 90's when Prince obviously got a new one. I think Prince isn't as vain about his hair as he used to be and I think that he does his own hair at times. __________________________________________________

Prince did have a beautiful mane back then, and Mr. Earl Jones was the king of rollersetting. To get a full head of hair like that isn't difficult, just a good relaxer, set, and a bit or teasing and some hair spray. I LOVED his haircut during the Purple Rain era.

He had to have used extensions... His hair was SHORT in 86 and down to his shoulders in 88...hair don't grow that much in 2 years.

Uh No... Prince used hair pieces in the front of his hair in part of the Controvery era..And as for GB era there were times he used extensions to make his hair longer..But the Lovesexy era was all his.. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Men can grow their hair a bit faster than that depending on their diet. That's at least 6" of hair growth in one year .... 12" in two, ATLEAST. And yes it is very possible.... Prince could have used extensions but he had a round' the clock hairdresser that was a master at keeping his doo in great condition, and he flipped that head around too much it had movement, something that even the best weaves today still don't have.

People, Prince wears hair extensions/hair pieces. The only time Prince had his "real" hair was probably his first three albums and maybe during Parade in 86". My ex-girlfriend who is a Prince fan pointed this out to me years ago she is a beautician I think she would know. Nobody's hair grows that quick between albums!

Exactly!!!Plus his hair was short in 86 but not that short. He slicked it back mainly and you can tell in UTCM. Plenty of time to grow out for GB

I also was a cosmetologist... I worked with Olive Lee Benson (she was at the forefront in black hair care and the inventor of the creme relaxer) for 5 years, she was a master of relaxed hair. She taught me all about hair, particularly hair that is textured. Many hair dresser that work with "black" hair don't know jack because they choose not to educate themselves properly after the initial basic training to get a liscence. Many don't even think black hair can grow and insist that all their clients wear weave. Nappy hair grows, and yes, our Princey had hair texture that could look shrunk up when wet or waved (like the way he wore it in finger waves, for example) not to diss your girlfriend but I know my shit when it comes to hair. Prince did not look like he sported weave at all. His hair moved too much. A track of hair doesn't move that way, and braided extensions lay too heavy and move in a clumped fashion. His hair didn't do that. Watch the videos more closely, black hair can and does grow when taken care of. I would know... all of my clients with relaxed hair had hair down thier backs... no weave needed.

Yes, it really is. Its no weave, or extension. Why is that so hard to believe? Do you think nappy hair can't grow?

Prince had a jacked the hell up press n' curl during the Dirty Mind era... that shit was tore up! Looks like Andre burnt it and slapped grease on that crap. It was real because when he would sweat that hair would napp right up. It was awful.

if some other hero of your wore hair pieces that doesn't mean Prince use one too Prince needs to lay off the shoe polish... his skin is lighter, his hair should be lighter too. He needs a better colorist.

And another thing.... before another person says something else about weave.
Black hair can come in many textures... the looser the nap (curl) the less delicate the hair. So our man Prince doesn't seem to sport the tightest nap. A good relaxer and rollersets is all one needs to keep the hair from suffering from breakage, split ends and dryness. Soft water also helps.. but I digress. Anyone that says other wise... then think of this.. why at the end of about 4-6 weeks does any woman with relaxed hair have "new growth"? It is because the hair grows... about a 1/2 per month. Then watch her ass whine and moan about getting a touch-up. Men like Prince just don't need to weave their hair IF they have a knowledgeable technician on staff to hook up the hairdoo. Now can someone please tell Prince to color that gray head properly? Eww. He must be as gray as Jay Leno by now under all that shoe polish.

I don't know, it looked real to me. I've always dated black men, and contrary to the popular belief, black hair grows! LOL. I do nothing professionally. I only do things for fun. johnart: Acrylic's old bras is where tits of all sizes go to frolic after they die. Tit Heaven.

Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Didn't see him live until the 1999 era. He was primpin' then.... until the fourth song and it would sweat out. All of it. I seriously doubt he ever wore any hair pieces. They are too itchy, and he a huge head full of hair. Helmet headish.

Yeah, well the orger blackguitarist (i think) could explain the whole hair piece, hair extention WAY better..He was there and is pretty close to Andre, so he knows what actually went down..There was a thread that spoke upon this before and he laid it all down. Sorry he was close but never in his head... and he wore a Jeri Curl. He is not a hair expert, so he can't know. Most hair weaves can only be detected by people who put them in there. I did. Prince's hair never moved like it had a weave in it. It would all sweat out too. Weaves don't sweat out.
