I am so sick of the LPAB (Leave Prince Alone Brigade) coming on this board and calling themselves chastising us for what they perceive as US bullying Prince!

First of all, the very reason that most of you are even here, on this board right now, is because Prince himself is the bully who shut down directly or was the cause indirectly, damn near every other site that had anything to do with him and/or his music.

If it weren't for his bullying you wouldn't have to be here, you'd have somewhere else to go where you could spend your time happily inhaling the Essence de Prince's Farts!

For those harping "enjoy the music and shut the fuck up" how exactly are we to do that?

His new music is rather bland and uninspired. There have been a few gems in the last ten years but they have been too few and far between for any type of merit. Yet, the awe inspiring musical magic that he has made, gets no love because someone wants to pretend they never happened and y'all fallen right in line, lock and step!

Instead of trying to tell us what to do, y'all need to wake the fuck up and start wondering why would someone who worked so hard for 20 years building a legacy, spend the next 10 years doing everything they can to purposely dismantle it? rolleyes
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Forgive my musings for a moment, but let me reflect on the way we as fans, and those who are not but comment on Prince's art, treat the man himself.

Perhaps more than any other artist, here I stand to be corrected, Prince is critisised for almost everything he does by his own "fan" base. Some of these critiques include the following:

- he has the wrong faith
- his music lacks melodies
- his expression of black consciousness is out of sync with the digital garden
- he releases to0 little, or too much music
- he is not public enough about his personal relationships
- he does not take his website or customers seriously enough

The list is endless, but sometimes it is as if all of the above lend to feelings of great superiority of certain Prince fans over the man they are supposed to be a fan of.

Could it be, though, that the anonymity of the Internet has given these individuals a sense of boldness, so that what they perceive as weaknesses or negativity on the part of Prince, is so much more important than his many achievements or strengths...ex: lets rather discuss songs we dislike, or things about Prince that we do not like, than what attracted us to the man in the first place biggrin

Sometimes it appears as if individuals are trying to bully Prince...>>> rather be a Jew than a JW; rather sing like this than like that, rather play your guitar like this, than like that, rather date women who look like this, than...y'all know

What tickles me slightly...is that I see Prince as a person who feels his music deeply; I can picture him listening to a cd/song a million times before it is officially released. Even if we don't get into certain tunes as much as others, each of them are like children to him...he's doing his best and being himself...

is it worth trying to bully Prince

*thanks for reading if you got this far

Your observations are completely on point and the varying negative responses only emphasize your correctness. And, thank you, well done.

if you think about it, though...

should Prince's faith, approach to 'racial' identity, history, politics, his personal relationships - determine how consumers approach him. surely, the relationship between Prince and fans should revolve around his art, music, dancing and a diverse environment of people when he is seen live.

but if his music is approached from a political level, then it will also be natural that the issues mentioned in the first post will create antagonism between him and those who take different social/spiritual positions as he does

innocent

Oh, for fuck's sake. For an apologist you don't seem to have actually listened to any Prince's music. Half of what he does references race, sexuality, history, politics, and spirituality. How, pray tell, is a consumer of his art supposed to seperate those subjects from his work when those are quite often the subjects of his work?

Oh well...you're so sick? Some people around here don't know when it's time to shut the eff up or just "stop TYPING" (since you need somebody to get technical) BUT you want to come off like you know something. I'm awake Hatrina and I don't care why he worked so hard for 20 years...blah blah blah..that's his effing business, like everything else. Prince can dismantle it ALL if he wants to. It's HIS business. Some of his hardcore, hating-ass fans need to fall the eff back because he doesn't owe you or ME anything. Just because you say his new music is rather bland and uninspired doesn't make it so. Not for me and many others anyway. What are you doing? "Do YOU already". Please. I really don't care what you are doing because everything from your name to your stupid "inhaling" comment is so corny and offensive. You're really just "typing" for a reaction and now you have one and you may as well just shut the eff up. I'm not chatising you. ha ha..theWrong1 has advice. Maybe delete your account on the org if you're getting so effing sick genius. Maybe then you'll have more time to miserably sit around pondering how Prince is going to spend his next 10 years.

I see the "fams" have gotten bored again. When the fans get bored talking about the Prince music they like, then they talk about the Prince music they don't like. It's called being human because everyone is an individual with their own tastes so naturally not everyone is going to like each and every little single thing by any artist, not just Prince. And if it's a site talking about an artist, stuff you don't like are up for discussion just like stuff you do like is.

When the "fams" however, finally get bored about talking about what Prince ate for breakfast, how many Doritos were in the bag that he purchased, or what is Prince's blood type, then they get on their "Leave Prince alone" kick. They can't stand any criticism whatsoever of any song, any personal thing that Prince may have done (whether right or wrong), or just anything negative whatsoever and then they start with their "Why are you here" stuff. They think because they are so obsessed and see Prince as God, their Lord and Saviour, that the fans that will admit to not liking particular things aren't fans at all. And many a fan that may make a negative comment about Prince on this site will rip someone to shreds in the general public if they shit on Prince. Yeah, this is a Prince site, it's like home and at home, you love the person there but you will still tell it like it is when you don't like something. You may even get mad at them sometimes but if someone outside of home were to jump them, you would be ready to kick ass.

shrug I don't get the need to insult people you don't agree with and I mean that on both sides of the aisle.

We're adults. We can agree to disagree. This thread and its conversation were civil until folks felt Prince had to be defended. Does he really have to be? Would he defend anyone here? Can he be defended without taking personal jabs at people? That, in itself, is juvenile.

The "lovers" like to put themselves above "haters" but from where people like me stand, those of us square in the middle, you all look cut from the same jib.

It's a bad Photoshop. If you want to take a dig at Prince, do it good. Use Vanishing Point, Plane tools, some warping(?) whatever to at add some perspective in the art work or otherwise make it more believable.
And then some people have the nerve to accuse Prince of delivering mediocre work lately ...

This thread is funny because now certain people want things to be civil. It's ok for everybody, including the "Gay Mafia" to take personal jabs at Prince. They've been on a roll if you haven't noticed. I've been looking at all of these juvenile threads and I feel like defending him and showing some of you bullies that I know how to duck, weave, and jab right back.

uhh...yeeahhh...about that defamation thing? It's not defamation if it's true. Prince in not very smart, that's part of the problem. He's easily influenced and acts like a child. That's simply unattractive in a grown up man. He's really not a soft target, but an EASY target.

Your comments never surprise me. but come on, getaway, according to your opinion, what you're doing is confirming that it is okay for fans to defame his character, by calling him a m*thrf*cker, and other nasty, derogatory names on a public forum, for the reason you claim he is not "smart" or because he's an easy target? That's a broad and ridiculous statement because that reason wouldn't hold up in any court room much less make it to the table. On any site, if certain comments are allowed by members, then it is because "the site allows those comments". Plain and simple. There are other unofficial Prince sites that inform their members in the rules of the site, that defamation of Prince's character will not be tolerated.

It's one thing to be upset about the way he conducted his latest website business, but that does not give anyone the right to defame his character, by calling him all kinds of nasty, derogatory names, bringing his personal life into it, making nasty comments about his associates, love interests, religion of choice or family members. If someone used that same reason to call you nasty, derogatory names or basically defame your character on a public forum, you know good and well, you, of all people, would not take that lightly. lol

You know what is hilarious though.....the same ones harshly criticizing and defaming him, are usually the first ones to run and get a ticket to see him perform or the first ones b*tching that they can't get a ticket to one of his shows. lol In the end....Prince wins.

Hey! But if it were the truth, then I'd have to shut my mouth. My GENERAL OPINION of Prince is that he's really not too bright. Calling someone a motherf***er isn't against the law, and my thinking that he's a dumbass isn't either.

Hey! Wait a minute here...if we were talking about Rush Limpballs instead of Prince, you wouldn't have any problem with the namecalling, right?

I don't have a horse in this race because this thread has turned into all kinds of crazy....lol

But you actually trying to compare Rush Limbaugh to Prince???.....Maybe most people don't mind name calling with the likes of Rush because, unlike Prince, Limbaugh is a brazen racist who thinks black folks should be picking cotton the last time I checked....

I'm not surprised she did that, and I believe she intentionally did that to bait, because there was no reason to mention "Rush Limpass" in that thread when he has nothing to do with the topic at hand falloff nor does my opinion of Rush has anything to do with this topic. lol She should know by now her failed attempts at bullying and baiting me, doesn't stop me from expressing exactly how I feel, and to answer her question on namecalling, she brings up a racist pig like "Rush Limpass" and knows damn well he deserves to be called every, derogatory name in the book. lol
